Covid divergence effect: UK death rate in last week nearly three times higher than in Scotland

Given the clear divergence in strategy, between England and Scotland, in the last month or more, it’s worth looking at possible effects on more recent infection rates and death rates.

Scotland’s 7 day average for new infections is 17 and for new deaths is 6: https://www.travellingtabby.com/scotland-coronavirus-tracker/

England’s 7 day average for new infections is 241 and for new UK deaths is 196: https://coronavirus.data.gov.uk/

Note: For some reason England-only deaths are not published.

So at just over 10 times the population, England should have, pro rata, a daily average of 170 news cases but has 241, 42% higher.

At 12 times the population, the UK should have pro rata, a daily average of 72 new deaths but has 196, approaching three times higher.

  1. Cumbria still exhibits a high R number, but Alister “Union” Jock, our languid fop of a Minister, thinks it a Good Wheeze for his constituents to travel to work over the border.

Jackson Karloff thinks whatever he is told to think. He makes Frankenstein’s monster look like the epitome of “free thinking”!

    1. Frankenstein`s creature (not monster) has been grossly misrepresented by those relying on films rather than the book. He learned to read and think about philosophy from an old blind man who was not repulsed by his horrific appearance because he could not see.
The creature only became violent and murderous because of the way he was treated, first by Frankenstein who denied him the caring upbringing and education he had had himself, then by ignorant people who judged him by his appearance.
It is worth reading the book.
