In Energy Voice today:
We are seeing the first green shoots of the economic recovery we can make along Scotland’s east coast through new offshore wind projects. Seagreen will create around 400 jobs during construction and will deliver an estimated £1 billion-plus in economic benefits to Scotland and the UK. Much of that economic benefit as well as those jobs will be in Angus, including high quality, full-time jobs that will work out of Montrose Port to service the wind farm throughout its 25-year lifetime. Construction will start next year, and when it’s completed in 2022/23, Seagreen will be Scotland’s single largest source of renewable energy, powering over 1 million homes and offsetting 1.6 million tonnes of carbon emissions each year.

Had it been located a short distance to the East,it would have been in English territorial waters.

All well and good but the blades are to be made on the Isle of Wight and the generation equipment in Denmark. We get to fabricate the towers and carry out servicing. Hardly the investment for Scotland in a green revolution promised by Westminster.

Thankfully the FM pumped money in to the refurbishment and extension of Montrose Port, deserves a shout maybe.

All well and good but the long term benefit is helping the UK meet its renewable energy requirements. If this energy served the Scottish economy the benefits would help the economy via cheaper energy. Further investments in new technologies such as harnessing hydrogen and let’s not forget exporting this energy. Unfortunately, unless we get independence all this wealth will go the same way as oil, lost to the greater England.

Use information on industrial developments like this to support the case for independence. I use this and other positive stories to show the doubters just how much is really going on in Scotland.
Don’t waste time griping

Yet Westminster never mentions Scotland in their energy policies or stats, it is always the UK. Hiding their failures.
