SNP Government fails to give individual re-opening advice to only 356 550 businesses

From BBC Scotland today:

The document says that firms, including garden centres and drive-through takeaways, can reopen in phase one, while construction, factories, warehouses, laboratories and small shops can resume work in the second phase. However, it does not give a comprehensive list of [356 550] individual businesses and which timelines they should follow.

From the Scottish Government in November 2019:

Number of Scottish businesses at record high.

A National Statistics Publication for Scotland.

The Businesses in Scotland 2019 report shows that, as of March 2019, there were an estimated 356,550 private sector businesses operating in Scotland – the highest number since current records began in 2000.

The statistics show that between March 2018 and March 2019, the estimated number of businesses increased by 2.8% (9,755 businesses).

That increase was driven by a 4.3% (7,270) rise in the number of unregistered businesses (those not registered for VAT and/or PAYE), which increased from 170,500 in March 2018 to 177,770 in March 2019.

The number of registered businesses also increased during that period – up by 2,485 businesses (1.4%) from 176,295 to 178,780 – also the highest since current records began.

In the same period there were 354,125 Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) operating in Scotland, providing an estimated 1.2 million jobs. SMEs accounted for 99.3% of all private sector businesses, 55.4% of private sector employment, and 41.5% of private sector turnover.

  1. I heard someone ask the question at First Ministers questions last Thursday I think it might have been Carlow, the question was would the First Minister ensure that each and every business in Scotland be issued with clear return to work instructions pertinent to their type of business .

Clearly the idiot asking the question was asking the First minister if the Scottish government would put together 356,550 individual action plans one for each shop or business in Scotland .

Now we have Hyslop saying the same thing ,another idiot.

Do we actually pay these idiots a salary ?

    Heaven help us
We must get rid of this dross ASAP

      1. Just for the avoidance of ANY doubt here:

        – Ms Hyslop did NOT accede to firm-specific action plans – of course!

        – from this and in the particular context of this post, any ‘dross’ to be got rid of would be in the BBC and amongst Tory MSPs.

        Yes?

  2. If the BBC were to demand the same level of accountability and scrutiny of the government in England as they do here in Scotland, either they would be banned from all Westminster press conferences or,as public servants, would find themselves being asked to consider their positions.
It is absolutely the responsibility of the press to hold the executive to account but that does include acting as the political opponents of our democratically elected government.
I suppose their reasoning is that the SG is only a pretendy government and that we should not be deviating from the real government in London in any way.
    Rule Britannia.

  3. Hyslop, you will stay behind and write out 356,550 times—

“iI must not talk back to Mr Brewah”.

Mr Brewah is our senior waffle teacher, and must be shown respect.
