My dad was a fan of Wishart’s writing back in the day. I was reading with approval her piece in the Guardian today until this bit hit me between the brain cells:

Now I know she’s not directly blaming the SNP or the Scottish Government but the implication is strongly there.
Wishart is here apparently following the BBC and MSM line, shielding the private owners and somehow suggesting that SG guidance was not clear enough and that the SG should have provided PPE supplies to private companies which charge around £1 000 per week to care for the residents.
We know for a fact and even John Beattie has mentioned it, that the Skye care home failed an inspection in January this year and that infection control was part of that failure.
Ruth, Ruth, it has nothing to do with Ian Blackford, nothing to to do with the Scottish Government. You present yourself as a kind of moderate leftish writer, so why not go for the guilty rather than stupidly linking these deaths to the SNP?

I agree – the addition of Blackford’s name had nothing to do with the story. Maybe added by a sub-editor?

bigjon999, my feeling is that it might have been subject to a bit of editing to fit the Guardian line. The “Scotland” editor is a certain Mr Severin Carrell.
Ruth Wishart is a pretty savvy journalist and her articles would not be out of place on any of the pro-independence sites.

Given the huge staff reductions in the newspaper industry and the equally huge incidence of typos, articles finishing part-way through a sentence etc, etc, I don’t think sub-editors exist anymore.

I remember , not so long ago the BBC were getting it in the neck of something or other and being compared to Fox news , Ruth Wishart was one of the first to defend them , in fact she was outraged , at the time I put in down to the fact she is a regular on Politics Scotland and she didn’t want to rock her paymasters boat , but recently I have begun to wonder about her .

She did state it was a ‘private’ care home rather than ‘independent’, the preferred euphemism of the BBC

Look let’s get straight to the point here , Ruth knows exactly what happens when you decide to talk to the britnat press or BBC or STV all the anti Scottish independence anti Scottish government anti SNP drivel comes rushing out of their reports.
Ruth nevertheless chose to go for the money
Knowing that whatever she said could be manipulated she still went ahead
What does this show ?
It shows that Scottish independence is not the priority to her
The money was more important
She’s not the only one by a long way
It’s like they can’t help it
Being in the limelight is so important to them and cashing in on it with a wee story is even more important to them
We have seen it time and time again
They’re not daft
Ruth’s not daft
She knows exactly what happens but took the money nevertheless because it’s more important to her
Shower of wasters
I see her comments online from times to time she’s not committed
Unsurprised by this
