Source reveals Skye care home covid-19 infection caused by Sassenach!

Adopting Reporting Scotland editorial standards, I’m going to rely on a single source who does not want to be named and who denies being related to Anas Sarwar.

The source has told TuSC that locals are convinced the virus was brought onto the island by an agency worker FROM ENGLAND (!) hired to help with a staffing crisis in the care home. TuSC has already exposed the staffing and infection control problems in the home:

https://talkingupscotlandtwo.com/2020/05/03/private-skye-care-home-with-mass-outbreak-had-weak-staff-team-and-inadequate-infection-control-when-inspected-in-november-and-january/

The source has also noted the irony that the army mobile testing team from the Black Watch has ‘super-spreader’, the Duke of Rothesay (Prince Charles) as their Colonel in Chief.

Footnote: By ‘England’ do Sgiathanachs mean Inverness? It seems an awful long way to travel for that rate of pay.

  1. I note that last night at 1820 hrs BBC
Gave this story much hype, but come 2200 hrs the story had mysteriously disappeared
One can only assume that someone internally alerted them to the fact that they are skating on very thin ice on that great Scottish Loch
    Aptly named Loch Law
I assure you the sure fire way to bring public servants heels to order is to infer upon them that their actions may lead to becoming called before a judge to explain themselves
So i would kindly remind them that the only thing that exits between their bare bottom and the stinging cane of the law
Is only one button of their trousers

  2. O/T. Apologies

Are BBC Scotland encouraging people to break The Lockdown

This mornings GMS presenter read out txt (claiming from a listener) “ drivers spending HOURS queuing for coffee at Braehead.
No matter how preposterous the so called tweet is, if it suits their agenda it gets read out.

Again this morning KayE Adams Moan-in “ are you ready to go back to work”
Every news programme, presenters frequently inform us of busy roads, parks etc.
Come on out break the Lockdown everyone’s doing it.

  3. Two points in relation to this Private Care Provider:

    1. If true that an agency worker brought in by this company is the source of the contagion the Company has insufficient H&S Management System in regards to Covid-19 (despite raft of guidance available like the “Infection Control Standards for Adult Care Homes: Final Standards” issued on 14th March 2005, by the Scottish Government).

    2. The contagion spread through this Private Care Providers premises due to insufficient Infection Control (again another failure of this Private Companys Management Systems).

So not so much Scots Govt/EssEnnPeeBaaad rather another example of what happens when you put profits before people!

Is there a breakdown of Care Home infection/fatality numbers/rates showing the difference between Local Authority/SNHS managed vs Private Sector managed?

I think this might make interesting reading.

  4. Quite aside from the external origin of the outbreak, I was disappointed that the person involved was identified as an agency worker from England and described as a “Sassenach” – if the worker was from say – Coatbridge would they be called a “Jock”, or a “Taff” if from Swansea, Romanian ? – I wonder. I don’t think these labels are helpful and don’t like to see them on TUSC.

  5. This needs more careful scrutiny – what follows is based on a quick first look – but with the interest now developing on the structure and ownership of care homes, the website (link below) seems to provide useful basic information on the segmentation of the sector.

    https://www.carehome.co.uk

The organisation claims to be the “leading UK Care Home review website with 17,768 Care Homes, 16 million+ visits per year & 161,790 Care Home reviews.” So even if not 100% comprehensive in its directory listing (and it may well be) it still must provide a very substantial database on care home provision.

The search facility on its website permits a segmentation of care home/nursing home provision for each of the four UK countries by ownership and provides the name, location and facilities for each home listed in each category:
    – private
    – local authority
    – voluntary/not for profit
    – NHS.

From a quick look, the structure of the sector in England and Scotland – based on this information source – seems quite a bit different. Of the 15,170 homes listed for England, 79.1% are privately owned. For the equivalent in Scotland, of the 1,057 homes in total just 62.2% privately owned. The number run by local authorities is 2.6% of the total in England but 12.1% of the total in Scotland.

Anyone interested in investing time to delve into this source in a ‘serious’ way might realise a useful return. (I regret I have some other things to do just now.)
