From NHS Scotland’s Information Services Division yesterday:
Attendances at A&E services in NHS Scotland has seen a large drop since the week ending 22 March 2020, this will be due to the measures put in place to respond to COVID-19. During week ending 19 April 2020:
- There were 12,900 attendances at A&E services in NHSScotland.
- 95.2% of attendances at A&E services were seen and resulted in a subsequent admission, transfer or discharge within 4 hours.
- 25 patients spent more than 8 hours in an A&E department.
- 2 patients spent more than 12 hours in an A&E department.
It will be interesting to see if and how Reporting Scotland reacts to this. There is no sign of the story so far [07:30].
On the one hand it has been made possible by a large drop in attendances but on the other, we must assume there have been some staff transfers from A&E departments to assist with Covid-19 cases.
We are yet to see the NHS England statistics for April and, for comparative purposes, to see if they have been able to close the 15-18% gap between their performance and the 95% target.

Thats is good news in anybodies book
But such cannot be presented by the ABC
