Tom Gordonstoun headlining in the Herald today

PRISON bosses are being allowed to release violent offenders, knife thugs and gangsters on electronic tags because of coronavirus.

Oh, dear, gangsters? Many of them?

Back in June 2018, his old mucker, David Leask was writing:

‘GANGSTERS are preying on the financial fears of pensioners to take over their homes for drug dealing and racketeering, a major new report has discovered.’

He didn’t get around to context then just as Gordonstoun doesn’t today but I was able to offer this:

‘Scotland has, per capita, far fewer gangs than the rest of the UK. Indeed, Scotland has 8% of the population yet only 3.5% of the gangs.’

More here:

How many GANGSTERS are preying on the financial fears of pensioners? BBC Scotland and Herald care not, as long as they can scare us

Also, with regard to one group, domestic abusers, it seems unlikely that they will join Gordonstoun’s list:

While ministers are minded to use new emergency powers for early release, with growing concern that the current lockdown will see a rise in domestic abuse, Holyrood understands that those with domestic offence convictions will not be considered as part of the scheme.,exclusive-scottish-government-very-unlikely-to-push-on-with-proposals-for-j_15389.htm
