In February 2020, 87.1% of attendances at NHS Scotland A&E services were seen and resulted in a subsequent admission, transfer or discharge within 4 hours.

In NHS England Type 1 A&E departments only 73% were seen within 4 hours
The difference of 15.1% means that NHS Scotland A&E was performing a remarkable 20.6% better than NHS England.
Footnote: March statistics seem likely to show NHS Scotland to be 26% better.

Why is England the standard by which Scotland is judged? Why not the other way around? It would be gratifying, and fitting, to see headlines proclaiming ‘England A&E x% SLOWER than Scotland’.
