New cases in a ‘Herald surge’ or a plateau if you can read the numbers

That’s the Herald’s exciting headline on new cases. I’ll deal with the deaths in another post. Here are the stats from BBC Scotland:

So, 268 new cases in the last 24 hours, ‘surging’ up 13 from 255 the previous day and down from the 300 plus in three days before that. Here’s the graph:

So an overall fall maintained over 7 days and the peak is still well ahead of us? It doesn’t look like it. It looks like the social distancing is working.

  1. Has a similar ‘surge’ been reported for England or, indeed, BRITAIN? If there was such an increase, we would not locate it easily in our right wing unionist media.

    On Several occasions, when reporting the figures over the weekend, the FM stated explicitly that the low figures for these 2/3 days did not represent the actual position and that today’s figures would likely be much bigger. She also said that the imminent change in the way the data are compiled will present a different picture.

    This is another clear example of the POLITICAL agenda of the Herald et al.
