Yeah, can’t see anything there that suggests the headlines affect the number of visitors. There will be too many factors, and most outwith your control, that affect it to even bother trying analysis (unless you enjoy that sort of thing).
I say you are safe with your headline writing being as interesting or as long-winded as you like! As long as it mentions the subject, you should stick with what you like – it makes it a quintessentially John-blog after all 🙂
