She could not be sending us a clearer sign of her contempt for the young woman abused or for those of her subjects sensitive enough to be offended by it. You can imagine her and Phil sneering at the victims and reassuring themselves that the ‘boy’ was just doing what any red-blooded aristocrat would do with a prole girl in the same circumstances.
