Dear Reporting Scotland Down, NHS Scotland A&E Services have improved performance despite surging demand

Attendances at Scotland’s A&E departments have climbed dramatically in the last four months, yet performance has held steady. This is a remarkable achievement worthy of media attention.

In the period January to April 2019 there were 557 926 attendances giving a monthly average of 139 481.  The average performance was 89.8% seen in 4 hours.

In the period May to August 2019 there were 600 730 attendances giving a monthly average of 150 182, an increase of 7.67%. The average performance was 90.7% seen in 4 hours.
