Dear Boris, NHS Scotland A&E services treat more than 90% within target despite 17% increase in demand and 15% more than NHS England can

From NHS Scotland’s Information Services Division today:

During August 2019:

  • There were 152,353 attendances at A&E services in Scotland.
  • 90.6% of attendances at A&E services were admitted, transferred or discharged within 4 hours.
  • 1,406 (1%) patients spent more than 8 hours in an A&E department.
  • 354 (0.2%) patients spent more than 12 hours in an A&E department.

Thus, 99% treated within 8-hour target.

Demand has increased from 129 838 in February 2019 to 152 353 in August.
