
From NHS Scotland’s Information Services Division today:
During August 2019:
- There were 152,353 attendances at A&E services in Scotland.
- 90.6% of attendances at A&E services were admitted, transferred or discharged within 4 hours.
- 1,406 (1%) patients spent more than 8 hours in an A&E department.
- 354 (0.2%) patients spent more than 12 hours in an A&E department.
Thus, 99% treated within 8-hour target.
Demand has increased from 129 838 in February 2019 to 152 353 in August.

NHS England A&E Type 1 services treated only 78.3% in 4 hours.
