Despite several pockets of disorder, the overall picture was better than in recent years.
We saw this yesterday, the foregrounding of bonfire night violence in Glasgow as an example when there was a more notable one to be had in England.
From BBC Tyne yesterday:
Six people, including three teenage boys, have been arrested after a night of violence saw fireworks and bricks launched at emergency services on Bonfire Night. Northumbria Police said its crews had been attacked after responding to reports of anti-social behaviour in the Waterville Road area of Meadow Well in North Tyneside at about 21:00 GMT on Thursday. A number of officers were injured, the force said, and five police cars and three fire engines were damaged.

The actual number of officers injured has not been release but another sources used the word ‘several’. https://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/news/north-east-news/meadow-well-chaos-live-updates-34870258
The BBC Scotland report this morning also had the unchallenged suggestion earlier in the report, contrary to the police statistics and their own final admission that ‘overall it was better than in recent years’ , that ‘each year it kind of gets ramped up more .’
