From STV in Scotland, yesterday, the above, and:
Three men have been jailed for a combined 13 years for crimes including trafficking vulnerable women between Scotland, England and Wales. George Filip, 45, Alexandru Moco, 26, and Leonard Banica, 41, targeted 16 vulnerable women, bringing them into the UK to work as sex workers.
A fourth man, Ionela Filip, 34, also worked with the three men to run the prostitution ring and various brothels, exploiting the women for their own gain. The group evaded detection by transporting the vulnerable women across the border between Newport, Birmingham and Scotland.
Between? Between? Nonsense – STV staff know, I feel sure, like all journalists in Scotland that the flow is almost entirely one way, from high pressure to low pressure, from high crime areas – London, Liverpool, Birmingham – into the opportunities presented by the gaps in low crime areas like Scotland including Glasgow
At the street level, the extreme violence, the sex trafficking, the ‘cuckooing’ of the vulnerable in their homes, and the child ‘mules’ with deadly drugs stuffed inside their bodies is an invasive plague everywhere in Scotland and one run by monsters, every one of them, from England – the solutions are clear

STV today, has: Figures show that 135 serious organised crime groups are currently assessed as active in Scotland, seven of which involve children or young people. Data obtained by STV News through a freedom of information request details known crime operations in Scotland over the last five years. The total number of active serious and organised crime groups fell this year compared with 2024/25 – but the figure is higher than five years ago. This is all very well but, frankly, the report ignores, and you have to ask why, the clear facts that, in terms of the horrors of drug pushing with it's always associated abuse of women, children and the vulnerable and conceals the true immediate threat, on the streets of every Scottish town, every day, especially for these groups, of a cultural phenomenon and business model that the UK's police chiefs and officers in places like Inverness recognise and call 'English.' This is an invasion and needs to be treated as such. One obvious move would be to control our borders. Another, of course, as John Swinney has called for, would be to put these gangs out of business by legalising drugs and selling them via Boots! The Union denies us both. This Talking-up Scotland report confirms my case.
