On BBC Newsnight tonight, hosted by Matt Chawly, Luke Tryl, ‘our’ [More in Common] pollster, responded to his question:
Where is Scottish opinion on the question on the Question of independence?
with this utterly ill-informed nonsense:
Well, we had a powl coming into this conference which had support for remaining part of the Union at 52% and support for independence at 48%. That ratio we love to see (?) in referendums. I should say there was also a poll from our friends at Survation which had those numbers the other way round. I think what we can say, it’s very close at the moment and any referendum would be close too.
Close? CLOSE? Look at this:
Take out the three YouGov polls, demonstrably biased against Yes, having never found a Yes lead going back years, thanks to their sampling skewed to a ratio like that last seen in the 2014 referendum and other than one Ipsos poll, it’s all Yes, by on average 4%, for almost all of the last 10 polls!
How can that be close? How can Luke be the BBC’s pollster and tell us such big fibs?

” How can Luke be the BBC’s pollster and tell us such big fibs?”
He who pays the organ-grinder gets to name the tune.
