It may not break the letter of the law but it certainly breaks the spirit of it. It’s a despicable way to treat working people. It’s straight out the Tory playbook. All parties need to get round the table and hammer out a deal,and working people should never be threatened like this again”

Hmm.

It beggars belief that a Labour politician, the new branch office manager, has such a selective memory, in that prior to to the SNP taking over Glasgow, his party, Labour , ran Glasgow City Council, Labour Glasgow Council spent more than £2.5m of public money fighting in court against equal pay claims by female council workers – over a pay scheme it introduced in 2007.

It also beggars belief that he , Marra, seems to also forget all of the PFI debt that exists within Scotland, debt that burdens Glasgow as well, all thanks to Labour.

So that was a despicable way Labour treated female workers in Glasgow and also the PFI debt that left millions of pounds of debt was also a despicable thing to do to Scotland and Glasgow .

Of course that kind of behaviour by Labour was straight out of the Tory playbook. Female workers and Scotland should never have been threatened like that by Labour.

This post by Marra is in relation to what is now an article on the BBC website with a headline that states:

“Glasgow City Council to fire and rehire over 23,000 employees”

In that BBC article the BBC include this statement below , with absolutely no mention of Labour’s part in this Glasgow Council equal pay dispute as the BBC wrote this:

“Glasgow City Council has been embroiled in problems over pay for years”

“The local authority previously paid out about £770m after it emerged female workers in roles such as catering or cleaning had for years been receiving up to £3 an hour less than those in male-dominated areas such as refuse collection”.

Now that beggars belief also, in that the BBC fail to mention who, via political party, was to blame for this scandal in the first place.

Selective memory and reporting is a (bad) habit that the BBC love to adopt to aid the Labour party (or indeed any party if they, the BBC, thinks or hopes that it will either hinder or damage the SNP).

Not forgetting of course that we have the Scottish local elections next year where we are currently seeing the BBC in Scotland in full campaign mode for any party but the SNP.

( BTW I do hope that the people in Scotland are aware of the complete mess that Reform UK are making in the respective English councils that they won in the 2025 local elections in England, so then hopefully they , the public in Scotland, will not be tempted to vote for Reform UK next year in our local elections- now that would be truly despicable and would also be a threat to all of our cities, towns, villages and rural areas).
