Here’s something the BBC website has added as an article onto their local news page for Yorkshire (region of England).

“MP calls for Yorkshire to get its own parliament”

“A Liberal Democrat MP has called on Prime Minister Andy Burnham to go further with his devolution plans and give Yorkshire its own parliament”

Why ?

Well according to this Harrogate and Knaresborough Lib Dem MP , Tom Gordon:

“Yorkshire had a population larger than Scotland and an economy larger than Wales, and, as such, it should have a parliament with a broader spectrum of views represented, rather than so much power resting with the four elected mayors”.

(Does that mean Scotland has a larger economy than Yorkshire & Humber as he only noted that Wales had a smaller economy compared to his region) ?

My God the audacity and also the greed of some MP’s from English regions.

As not only do they think it is acceptable and reasonable to compare an English region to some Nations within the UK (i.e. Scotland & Wales) – then to top it all , they also want even more power and control within their English region , when currently they already have English regional Mayors within their regions who have been given more powers and control and more money aka devolution!

The article also stated that:

“Gordon said he believed a Yorkshire parliament was the way forward if it’s good enough for Scotland, if it’s good enough for Wales, if it’s good enough for London”.

(So now Gordon is not just comparing Scotland and Wales to a region of England he also adds London as a comparison with our Nations, that is London an English city as well).

The BBC article also added that:

“The idea of a Yorkshire parliament has previously been advocated by the Yorkshire Party”

“Since 2014, the party has argued that it would create a more “engaged, democratic society”.

“Meanwhile, when devolution deals were first being discussed, a proposal was put forward for one mayor for all of Yorkshire”.

“Since 2014” ?

So this was a thing then, a call for a Yorkshire parliament, apparently it was prior to the 2014 Scottish independence referendum, so as well as EVEL in 2014 we also had a ‘Eh By Gum parliament’ called for as well.

Let’s be honest here how much power do some English MP’s want within and For English regions ?

So Tom Gordon, Lib Dem MP, wants a devolved parliament within Yorkshire in England.

Yorkshire already has four regional Yorkshire Mayors (as a part of devolution).

Then Yorkshire is also served by the UK political parliament in London, which is also in England, as that WM parliament represents Yorkshire constituents via their elected MP’s for that region).

BTW since the 2024 boundary changes there are now 54 MP’s who represent the Yorkshire and Humber region at WM.

While within Scotland, a nation within the UK State, these same boundary changes in 2024 reduced the amount allocated to Scotland from 59 to 57 MP’s.

Do basically Scotland is only allowed to stand 3 more MP’s than Yorkshire and Humber in any UK GE’s.

(While Wales also saw, like Scotland, their seat allocation reduced as in the 2024 boundary changes at WM Wales went from having 40 MP’s to then having 32 MP’s – that is Wales have 22 less MP’s than the Yorkshire and Humber region).

Also btw , Tom Gordon is the only Lib Dem that was elected as an MP for that region of Yorkshire and the Humber , so he is one out of the 54 MP’s that region has elected to sit in WM.

So I need to ask what is about the Lib Dems , who when they are in the minority, then assume that they can try to dictate and so introduce what they (say they) want and so should get ?

Clearly they, the Lib Dems, have not learned that no one really seems to care enough about them as a UK party ,that is care enough to make the effort to vote for them via a majority to become the UK government.

Someone should tell Tom Gordon, the lone Lib Dem MP for Yorkshire and Humber, that regions such as his within the UK parliament already have more than it’s fair share of representation within the UK State.

However I suspect that Tom Gordon will be another one who parrots the falsehood that “Scotland is Better Together with the rest of the UK” ( however for Tom that will only be the case as long as Scotland knows it’s place – which according to Tom seems to be that we, Scotland, are beneath that of his region in Yorkshire & Humber).

We often ask “what are Labour for” ?

When really the same Q should be asked about the Lib Dems.

Though TBF given all that they , the Lib Dems, have said and done, then I think we all know what and who they really are and also what and who they are for (via their support as a party).

Clue – not Scotland that’s for sure.

Certainly that is the case for the likes of Tom Gordon , a Lib Dem MP, as he Cleary does not see his party as being for Scotland , so then surely his party is not the kind of party that Scotland (nor Wales for that matter) should ever want to vote for in any election within the UK State ?

God give me strength, it’s exhausting the constant succession of S*** that we in Scotland are subjected to by non entities trying to make a name for themselves at someone else’s expense, this time at the expense of Scotland & Wales.

Then of course the BBC just always loves to repeat anything that disrespects Scotland – indeed they often platform and so promote anything and anyone that only wants to diss certain nations like ours, while exempting England from the same treatment.
