From BBC UK today, the above, and:
Passengers say they feel like nothing is being done as they face an “extremely frustrating” wait for winter ferry timetables to be published. People in the Channel Islands said they had been unable to book any journeys to and from Jersey after December, while others were unable to get times for a slower service between Guernsey and Portsmouth.
One tourist said the delays had put him off visiting and other passengers had called for clarity on the situation. Brittany Ferries and DFDS, which have ferry contracts for Guernsey and Jersey respectively, said full timetables would be available in the coming weeks. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c5dj4md4m71xo
I don’t need to tell you how the media operating in Scotland would be frothing over that kind of thing were it happening here.
What is the situation here?
For the 2026/27 winter timetable (19 October 2026 – 25 March 2027):
- Most routes were published for viewing on 7 July 2026 and last updated 3 August.
- Bookings and advance ticket purchases opened on 4 August 2026, already 6 weeks ago.
- A handful of routes were finalised later (into September) due to ongoing community consultation and maintenance planning.
CalMac now publishes a planning calendar on its corporate site showing target dates for consultation, publication, and booking opening.
