Readers may know, I’m a Bairn, so entirely impartial when Michael Kelly pops up to slag Glasgow.
Some dog-walkers I know, with dogs called ‘Kenny’ and ‘Lubo’, are more forthright on his abilities, along the lines of the Celtic Blog in 2022:
Just when you thought the gallery of goons was complete, along comes a figure so discredited and ridiculous and dripping in scandal that he makes Boris Johnson look like a paragon of virtue. I refer of course to our former director Michael Kelly, a guy who was part of the board which took our club to the brink of administration, and who history will judge without mercy as it’s not even close to being the worst thing he was involved in whilst a director at Celtic Park.
Now he’s telling our board that our club has always supported the monarchy and that they should “break their silence” and, it is to be assumed, slam their own paying customers. Get this guy so far across the horizon that you won’t be able to see him with the Hubble telescope. Our board needs advice from this clown like the BMA needed advice from Harold Shipman.
He is not even a joke, he and that board are the most disgraced figures in Celtic history and for him to be handing out lessons in morality and reputation management makes me ill. https://thecelticblog.com/2022/09/articles-and-features/articles/the-last-person-celtic-needs-to-hear-from-right-now-is-michael-kelly/
I know the feeling, I’m feeling it now, having seen the Herald front page, above.
His wikipedia page is dead revealing. There’s nothing in it at all!
Without reading it, why the should I (?) here’s why the former Labour councillor is all wrong about Glasgow:
Here are TWELVE reasons why Glasgow is really getting better and is already better than most English cities but it’s being hidden from you by Labour-supporting media

The Unionist press is on a full time feeding frenzy campaign to denigrate Glasgow and thereby the SNP run council. I have said this before but I believe it to be a drip feed propaganda exercise to try to get us recalcitrant Jocks behind the idea that a Mayor (sic) would be the solution for Glasgow’s woes. And that of course epuld allow Westminster to bypass and weaken Holyrood. Am particularly livid about this as spent entire career working in tourism and transport and put a lot of effort over the years in working to change people’s perceptions of Glasgow as some kind of post industrial crime ridden no go zone. This almost feels like sabotage. Sorry for rant.

Do not apologise as you have made an excellent observation when you wrote “I have said this before but I believe it to be a drip feed propaganda exercise to try to get us recalcitrant Jocks behind the idea that a Mayor (sic) would be the solution for Glasgow’s woes”.
I had previously observed that the media’s onslaught of news that is proclaiming that Glasgow is very very Bad, was just a way for them, as a media, to try to get Labour back in as the next council in Glasgow in next year’s Scottish local elections .
However I think that your point was way way more on the button – though both points could be valid in respect to the current #SNPBAD vendetta being orchestrated by the media.
(With of course the BBC heading the media’s ‘Charge of the Spite Brigade’).

We on here all know how Glasgow was treated by Lab ,the hospital equal pay and councilors having to resign and its very hard to let the public know these things as we are up against BBC foreign owned papers.
This is O/T John but worth finding out more.
Project Greensand is a landmark carbon capture and storage (CCS) initiative in the Danish North Sea led by the INEOS Group to permanently store captured carbon dioxide underground
I note with interest that Ineos is involved the shower that closed Grangemouth and money from UK to invest in Belgium, what has happened to Acron at Peterhead.

I assume you mean The Acorn Carbon capture project?
As far as I know…the project has pretty much been ‘kicked into the long grass’ if not abandoned altogether.

“Stuck” according to The Herald in July.
Why is a major Scottish energy project stuck as Europe steams ahead?

Response to rtpscott in writing “We on here all know how Glasgow was treated by Lab” .
Exactly.
When Labour were in power in Glasgow it was reported that “they spent more than £2.5 million contesting equal pay claims brought by thousands of female workers in court and tribunals”
That then left the new SNP Glasgow council to pick up the tab.
Though the GMB & Unison Unions orchestrated a 48 hour strike and a march for equal pay for women in Glasgow council- but only when the SNP took over as the new Glasgow council. (Better late than never I suppose – and if Labour had not been ousted as the council in Glasgow I suspect that there never would have been a strike or a march arranged by these Unions for these women).
Also not forgetting the crippling debt Labour inflicted upon Scotland with their PFI – “Glasgow taxpayers face the highest annual PFI fee of any Scottish local authority, standing at roughly £73.4 million“.
Then the Herald once reported that “Scots council taxpayers hit with £544 million bill for PFI deals”.
So let’s blame Labour for the mess they left behind that is costing Glasgow and the rest of Scotland a very lot of money via the debt they created !
