Why does this difference matter?
The hospital plans were first approved under a Scottish Labour council and a health board with only Scottish Labour members, in 2008. In 2015, the same people signed the project off as safe for its new patients.
In 2017, the SNP became leaders of Glasgow City Council.
The scientist was clearly concerned, fifteen years ago, about safety during the time of a Scottish Labour-dominated authority and health board. BBC Scotland makes not one reference to this and seek to muddy the waters in the minds of their audience so that many will assume the current SNP council is to blame.

The BBC report I read says he submitted his first report in 2020, his second in 2024 and a third in 2025. Definitely gives the impression that it is the SNP at fault.

The QEUH siting decision goes back to 2000 (April-Sept) when GGHB ignored the responses to its own consultation. GGHB decisions were approved by the Lib-Lab Scottish Government specifically Labour health ministers Susan Deacon and Andy Kerr and the actual sign-off at Scottish Government level was by Labour’s Malcolm Chisholm. Father of Anas Sarwar, namely Chaudhry Sarwar, was the local Labour MP and it made me sick to my soul to hear Anas Sarwar use QEUH and families suffering terrible loss as a political football

Sturgeon should have reversed the QEUH siting decision but this was all but finalised by the 2007 election and the political manoeuvres of Glasgow City Council are described elsewhere. But no everyday ordinary Weegie in their right mind (or even not) would plant a major hospital between a raw sewage reception plant and a sewage treatment plant. Where were all the paper pushers with their piles of reports – maybe there were no “reports of handling”…dumbos probably thought they might have to handle the shit

And finally…earlier question “Who made money out the land deals for the sm@ll hospitals closed” hits the nail on the head. What went on at Cowglen. It was a proven safe hospital site since WW2, first as a British Military Hospital albeit serving largely American injured following D-day, then a hospital for the elderly. AND the iconic National Savings Bank building could never be knocked down. Until it was. Dare I suggest the possibility that sewage is not the only kind of stench affecting hospitals in Glasgow. Look at the shenanigans regarding Silverburn on the other side of the M77 from Cowglen
