There were 125 TB notifications. TB notifications decreased by 21.9% when compared with quarters 1–2 2025 when there were 160 TB notifications. The percentage of TB notifications that were male was 65.6% compared with 59.4% in quarters 1–2 2025.

TB is far more common in England than in Scotland:

Using the most recent full-year rates as a baseline (provisional 2025/2024 data, as 2026 annual rates are not yet published):

England’s rate is approximately 1.8–2.0 times Scotland’s rate. Early 2026 case numbers are consistent with this differential continuing (England remains roughly twice as high on a per-capita basis).

Why?

Scotland’s more favourable GP and nurse staffing is likely to provide some advantage in earlier detection and management, which could help keep rates lower.
