From Business Green today:

Publicly-owned clean energy investor and developer confirms first major solar-thermal investment will create up to 140 jobs. Great British Energy has today announced £7.5m investment in Crawley-headquartered tech firm Naked Energy to fund a new UK manufacturing facility and create up to 140 jobs. https://www.businessgreen.com/news/4534032/great-british-energy-invests-75m-naked-energy

The Great British Energy Act 2025 received royal assent on 15 May 2025.

According to Great British Energy’s first Strategic Plan (published around December 2025), its investments and funded projects aim to directly support at least 10,000 jobs by 2030. This focuses on areas historically dependent on oil and gas, as part of catalysing a just transition, growing the clean energy supply chain (including via the £1 billion “Energy – Engineered in the UK” programme), and related activities. It also aims to support over 1,000 local and community energy projects. https://www.gbe.gov.uk/strategic-plan-2025-html

As of April 2026, over 120 people were working for GBE across the UK (including permanent, temporary, and contingent staff). https://www.parallelparliament.co.uk/question/128930/great-british-energy-staff

What has been the benefit to Scotland so far?

Earlier 2025–early 2026 figures showed limited permanent roles in Aberdeen, e.g. reports of around 13–30 permanent overall at points, with many on loan/secondment. https://www.aberdeenlive.news/news/aberdeen-news/only-30-permanent-jobs-appointed-10986255
