I did wonder if BBC Scotland’s relentless propaganda against the SNP in the months before the May 2026 Holyrood election would have an effect but, in the end, we saw the party support still relatively resilient and, by contrast, support for Scottish Labour collapse regardless of the channel’s efforts to protect them and their leader from scrutiny.

The average weekly reach of broadcaster TV in Scotland declined by four percentage points in 2025 compared with 2024, falling to 68%. This represents one of the steepest declines across the nations, just behind Northern Ireland, and is higher than the UK average decline of three percentage points. Audiences in Scotland have consistently recorded the lowest reach among the devolved nations since 2023, and the level is now below the UK average of 70%.
