  1. The SNP Scottish Gov funds social and healthcare £13Billion Mitigating Westminster healthcare cuts.

The Press were howling for walk in clinics. More appointments available. Some patients choose to wait for Doctors surgery appointment from choice. Now Press want them shut. Less available. Same out of houses, weekend appointments. Patients do want them. There are emergency G Docs.

  2. Utterly disgraceful again example of blatant propaganda deliberately undermining the Scottish government’s efforts. So called BBC ‘Scotland’ following example of Goebbels – state the same lies over and over again and people will come to believe it.

  3. Hysteria is a serious mental problem. MSM reporters, or perhaps editors, are clearly in need of medical care. Perhaps there is a walk-in centre nearby.

Happily their front pages will alert the public to the scheme and more people will be able to access them. Did they list the addresses of these walk-in centres? That would have been helpful.

  4. Let’s face it , this is nothing but hateful propaganda from a Unionist media which CANNOT allow and WILL NOT print any news that is even remotely pro-Scottish Government .

I cannot believe that anyone buying these English newspapers , which NEVER print a positive story about the Scottish Government , wants the best for Scotland .

  5. From 1948 until 2004 GPs were individually contracted to provide a 365(6) * 24 hour service. They did this on an individual basis in isolated area, in small groups in towns and in cooperatives in cities. It was all funded by a non-index-linked annual allowance of £6000 (to include all expenses including car fuel) per FTE GP per annum and other than cooperatives which ran at a huge loss for GPs who did a low number of out-of-hours sessions, the receptionist was the GP souse/partner who was unpaid. No protection, no escort, you drove yourself, you hoped for the best in dangerous places. The pay averages out at £0.90 per GP/spouse couple per hour (before expenses). The on-call GP you saw on a Monday morning then again on the Tuesday afternoon hadn’t stopped working (34+ hours). And all weekends and public holidays were covered in like manner. And live in fear of making a mistake or crashing your car due to exhaustion. The walk-in clinics are a blast from the past and might be the only decent healthcare idea the Scottish Government has had – if they take off. Anyone remember Morning Surgery of 40-60 patients drifting in and sitting round the room? Here is a reference for more detail: https://abetternhs.net/2013/05/10/true-history/ All taken for granted and now all gone with no acknowledgement. Annual NHS24 running costs are predicted to be £137.7m for 2025-26 and that’s just for the point of contact service, not the actual healthcare. If only I had known the neoliberal uncaring future and could claim my time back…
