Immigration crime crackdown was not ‘Scotland-wide’ with only 1%, only a tenth, per head, of the arrests

Glasgow Live today, above joining the others with a dramatic headline and:

Businesses across Scotland have been raided by police amid a country-wide crackdown on immigration crime, which “exploits vulnerable people by facilitating illegal entry into the UK”.

and:

Agencies interacted with 109 people, identifying 10 irregular migrants, Police Scotland said. 43 business compliance checks were carried out and Trading Standards identified four premises without a licence to sell alcohol or tobacco.

STV help us get things in persepctive.

First, the headline – Four arrested in Scotland in major organised immigration crime crackdown

Just four, ‘businesses across Scotland?’

Then, under a video set only in Leicester:

Four people have been arrested in Scotland after police and immigration officers targeted dozens of businesses as part of one of the UK’s largest coordinated crackdowns on organised immigration crime.

Restaurants, barber shops, nail bars, vape shops and car washes were among 40 businesses visited by officers in Scotland during the week-long intelligence-led operation, which aimed to disrupt criminal networks suspected of facilitating illegal working, exploiting vulnerable migrants and laundering the proceeds of crime.

Across the UK, 362 people were arrested, including 269 for immigration offences. Authorities said 57 of those arrested were known to have entered the UK by small boat.

See that last bit about the 362 arrests across the UK? Glasgow Live left that out and other media operating in Scotland seem to be ignoring it or the whole story.

What does it tell us?

If this was such an issue ‘across Scotland’ and not just in Glasgow, judging by the video Glasgow Live have, per head, it would have led to around 30 to 36 arrests and not just the 4, barely a tenth?
