NHS England waiting list queue is 300 000 or 5% longer than Scotland’s

From Stage of treatment waiting times New outpatients, inpatients and day cases published today, the above graph and:

At 31 May 2026, there were an estimated 579,814 individuals on at least one new outpatient, inpatient or day case waiting list. This is equivalent to around 1 in 10 of Scotland’s population (mid-2024 estimates).1

All things being equal, pro rata, the figure for England with 10 times the population should be 5.8m

The equivalent figure for NHS England is estimated (!) at 6 .1.2

There are thus 300 000 people, 4.9% more, on the NHS England waiting list who would not have been had they lived under the SNP, a centre-left party, these last two decades.
