The share of prison deaths due to aging (cancers, heart disease, circulatory issues, and respiratory conditions) has been increasing over time in both England & Wales and Scotland. This is driven by the steadily aging prison population.

Drug-related deaths in Scottish prisons have shown a general upward trend since the mid-2010s. They remain a significant but not dominant cause compared to natural/health conditions.

  1. As I have said on many previous occasions I pity the so called ‘journalists’ at BBC Scotland having every day to conjure up an SNP ‘Bad Story’. It must be very frustrating for them and this Is yet another example of relying on unfortunate past instances to keep their declining Unionist viewers entertained. As they say it seems they can continue to fool some of ignorant people all time.
