How do these compare with parts of England?

Note the national average pushing 20% higher, the rates far higher than any in Scotland in several areas including Burnhamland (Greater Manchester) and the far lower rates in several parts of Scotland than in England’s ‘low-rate’ areas.

Wales?

Almost everywhere above the Scottish rate and several well above Scotland’s highest.

  1. I’m currently listening to the audio version of Kete Pickett’s “The Good Society” as recommended. (This blog is turning into a book club – good)

    It’s very interesting and persuades me that investing in decent care pays dividends in all sorts of ways, including lower crime rates. She suggests a 7:1 ROI which is very high.

    Although Scotland gets some honourable mentions, most of the data is for England and Wales. A Scottish version needs to be written by someone skilled in finding and interpreting statistics. 🙂
