Is there any other ferry service in the entire UK that gets reported on national news every time one of their ships has a technical fault and has to cancel bookings?

You haven’t missed anything but, sadly, Leslie has.

So you’re still not commenting on ferries?
Didn’t you follow Lesley at Largs? How did that go?

Hi Anonymouse
Ferries? I tried but then some idiot compared them to the Clearances, LR said I upset islanders, and I was drawn back in.
Largs, were you there? They gave me two very nice malts, thank you.
Gonnae reveal yourself?

100,000 islanders. 42 ferries. 4 on the way. 1 per 2,000+ islanders. They are not going back and forward all the time. It’s mainly visitors on holiday. They are not in a great hurry. Part of their holiday.
Workman organise their trips. If there is a hold up or bad weather. They reorganise.

Orkney is declared the best place to live in the world. People seem to like being there.
£10,000 for a port visit. Subsidised ferries and flights. Air ambulances. Doctors are compensated for the elements. Good education. The islanders do well. Go to uni. Culture and the Arts. Literature and music. Some travel the world. Trading vessels. Merchant tankers. Oil & Gas industry.
Renewables. Lewis recorded the highest wind turbine speed in the world. Fishing and farming. Subsidised crofts. Land buy outs.

How can anyone be offended by facts? If you’ve got some figures wrong then surely they would point out which ones so that you can correct them?
It’s sad that the world doesn’t conform to BBC Scotland narratives. But what conclusions can be drawn from that?
BTW there are no bus or train services where I live and I can’t drive as I’m waiting for an eye operation (Ah the waiting lists!). Going further than 10 yards from my house requires planning. But I live in a very beautiful rural area which more than compensates for the inconvenience of not having city centre style transport links.
Of course, if I had a huge subsidy I could take taxis everywhere!

Get your MP/MSP on that?
