From People requiring a social care assessment and care at home services Management information, published 24 February 2026 (Latest release)
Of those people in Scotland (All Areas Submitted) waiting for care at home following an assessment of their needs, the total estimated number of weekly hours of care that they were waiting to receive was 27,038 as of 2 February 2026. This represents a decrease of just over 5% from the estimated number of hours at this time last year (28,612 on 3 February 2025).
You’ll see from the graph but not referred to for some reason that this is the third drop from a high of over 30 000 hours, a year ago.
Also in the report, but also ignoring the fall in the last quarter we can see in the graph:
The number of people in Scotland (All Areas Submitted) assessed and waiting for a care at home package was 2,932 on 2 February 2026. This is just over 4% higher than the number of people waiting for a care at home package this time last year (2,810 on 3 February 2025).
