I think another factor is trust. Most Scottish people trusted Nicola to give the best advice possible.

Lesley Riddoch recalls driving up to a junction and stopping at a red light. It was a warm summer day. Every car had their window open. Every driver was listening to Nicola’s daily update.

Only an idiot would trust Boris Johnstone’s erratic and mendacious “advice”.
