How many current Scottish Labour MPs and MSPs are followers of Lord Mandelson’s dark arts?

In the Daily Record 14 September 2025:

Imogen Walker – the wife of the Prime Minister’s under-fire chief of staff Morgan McSweeney – was made an influential Commons whip along with colleague Gregor Poynton.

It has emerged that in June, Mandelson – who has been sacked US ambassador over his relationship with paedophile Jeffrey Epstein – attended a fundraiser for Hamilton and Clyde Valley MP Walker and Livingston MP Poynton.

“Imogen and Gregor are known to be on the right of the party and it’s no surprise they seem also to be in the Mandelson inner circle. Imogen’s husband McSweeney is also close to Mandelson.

It is a clique which has done everything to obliterate the left-wing soul of the party and is now threatening to bring the whole government down due to its ties to people like Mandelson who are no more than compromised corporate lobbyists.”

It seems more than likely that many more of the current crop of right-wing Labour MPs and MSPs, after the pushing out of the Corbynite Richard Leonard in favour of Prince Anas, are of the same sinister brood. Here’s an obvious one:

What is often meant by Lord Mandelson’s ‘dark arts which many MPs and MSPs are likely to share?’

The most severe and immediate criticisms centre on revelations from the US Department of Justice’s Epstein files releases in late 2025 and early 2026. These have been described across the political spectrum (but especially damaging within Labour) as a profound betrayal:

  • Ongoing Association with Jeffrey Epstein — Despite Epstein’s 2008 conviction for sex offences involving minors, Mandelson maintained a friendship, including personal communications (e.g., emails joking about personal matters and describing Epstein as a close associate). This was seen as morally reprehensible and politically toxic, embarrassing the party and linking it to a figure synonymous with child exploitation. Critics, including Labour MPs and former colleagues, called it “untrustworthy” behaviour dating back decades.
  • Alleged Leaking of Sensitive Government Information — In 2009–2010, while Business Secretary under Gordon Brown during the financial crisis, Mandelson allegedly shared confidential, market-sensitive details (e.g., on UK financial handling and taxes) with Epstein via emails. This has been labelled a “betrayal of trust,” “dereliction of duty,” and potentially “misconduct in public office” (prompting a Metropolitan Police investigation). Gordon Brown and others described it as “inexcusable and unpatriotic,” while Labour figures accused him of prioritising personal connections over national interest.
  • Deception and Lies — Multiple sources, including Prime Minister Keir Starmer, accused Mandelson of repeatedly lying about the depth of his Epstein ties during vetting for his 2024 appointment as UK Ambassador to the US (a role from which Starmer later sacked him). This damaged Labour’s credibility on standards, integrity, and judgment, with MPs expressing fury that it “embarrassed” the party, the PM, and undermined public trust.

These events led to Mandelson’s resignation from the Labour Party (to avoid “further embarrassment”), retirement from the House of Lords, and removal from the Privy Council. Within Labour, it sparked open revolt against Starmer’s leadership judgment in re-engaging him, with some MPs calling it a “tipping point” or “final straw” for the party. Left-leaning commentators framed it as the “ultimate conclusion” of New Labour’s flaws — elite networking, questionable associations, and detachment from ethical accountability — severely harming the movement’s reputation for fairness and probity.Overall, while Mandelson’s defenders credit him with modernising Labour for electoral success, detractors (especially on the left) argue his pattern of behaviour — from ideological shifts to personal scandals — has repeatedly prioritised power, wealth networks, and centrism over the movement’s core values, culminating in what many now see as one of the most damaging episodes in recent Labour history.

  1. The dogs in the street, the No 10 cat, knew Mandelson was the Prince of Darkness. Starmer can’t pretend he didn’t know.

The charge of “misconduct in public life” is the mildest, most easily defended charge that could be brought. It is more usually reserved for local councillors pauchling the property development money (if caught).

The death penalty for treason was abolished in 1998 by Tony Blair. Prescient what?

We also have the ludicrous misdirection that Epstein was a Russian agent. The files show that he was a Mossad agent and also worked with MI6 and the CIA. His business was essentially a giant international blackmail operation to entrap politicians, business men and top decision makers and… princes.

Currently only one person is in prison for these crimes – a woman. When are the victims going to get justice and see those monsters behind bars?

  2. Today Keir Starmer gave a public apology to victims of Epstein in a press conference post the Mandelson email scandal revelations in the Epstein files (also known as Starmer trying to keep his job as the UK PM) he also managed to attack the left (how inappropriate via this , checks notes, apology) when he said:

“Britain has also been let down by a mindset on the left of politics that is too slow to defend core British values

Guess who else attacks the left in politics ?

Nigel Farage , Donald Trump and Kemi Badenoch and also the right wing press and rogue media GB News (also right wing).

However what are the “ core British values” that sees a British PM appoint a person to a high ranking position to represent the UK in America while knowing full well that the person that they were appointing was close friends with a convicted paedophile ?

Noting of course that neither the person Starmer appointed as UK Ambassador to the US nor indeed is Starmer himself on the left of politics.

So it seems to me that all of the complete and utter crap that has gone down within their UK has been done by the actions and words of those on the right of politics.

However the Right wingers (baddies) always need scapegoats, fall guys and patsies to blame for their own ineptitude, cruelty and obvious unsuitability to any position of power.

Mainly because once they are in power they then begin to abuse the trust that they have been given by shafting the very people who gave them that power aka the voters.

Is Starmer’s Core British values this ?

Ignoring and supporting Israel committing genocide in Gaza

Removing crucial benefits away from the disabled

Maintaining the Tory two child cap for well over a year since winning the UK GE (and then doing a U-turn to offset the deserved backlash)

    Demonising migrants

Pandering to and so adopting Reform UK policies and words

Using a racist expression “Island of strangers”

Betraying WASPI women and Scottish workers at Grangemouth Oil Refinery

    Sucking up to Trump

Constant U-turns on previous bad policy decisions but only because of certain media and public backlash against these cruel policies , as opposed to having any sense of morality and decency to do the right thing.

Is it then any wonder many of us within Scotland do not need nor indeed want to be associated with being known as British……….as it seems that so many British politicians have no core values, indeed they only seem to be in politics for what they themselves ‘value’ and that is them gaining status, power and personal wealth.

There has been a tsunami of constant crap pre and post the former Tory UK government and most people are absolutely sick of it.

Unfortunately we have a media so compromised and crippled by the politics of those at the head of those large corporations and those wealthy individuals who own certain newspapers and also those who are at the head certain TV channels that the truth never ever really gets out.

Then of course there are those voters who fail to realise the folly of contemplating voting for scoundrels like Reform UK and also yet again for certain pro UK so called ‘traditional’ political parties too.

So then it is never ending, yet still some voters will continue to keep making the same old mistakes again and again and yet each time expecting a completely different outcome only to be confronted with the same crap as before.

I truly do despair that some voters are way beyond any help and it seems they are also way beyond learning from their previous voting mistakes…………

If only in Scotland a fraction of the truth were to be communicated by the so called media upon parties like Labour, the Tories and also the new Tories that are Reform UK……surely then some voters would finally wake up .

Honestly it is sickening the ignorance and apathy of some misinformed voters.

While post their votes in any election we then see the backlash and the indignation when they, as voters, realise that they have voted for a party who now act against against them , as opposed to a being party that seeks to support, help and so speak up for them.

I feel until lessons are learnt , by voters, then nothing will “Change”.
