Submissive Ayr MP feeds English Health Secretary with lies about her own NHS which is far better than his and betrays all the staff in her constituency

Professor John Robertson OBA

On 25 November, Elaine Stewart, MP for Ayr, Carrick and Cumnock, joined the tragic trail of Scottish Labour MPs prepared misrepresent their own NHS boards in order to win favour with the UK Labour leadership.

Here are the facts she dare not mention:

From NHS waiting times – stage of treatment published yesterday, the above impressive signs of progress. with increasing numbers treated yet plummeting longer waits.

https://www.publichealthscotland.scot/publications/nhs-waiting-times-stage-of-treatment/stage-of-treatment-waiting-times-inpatients-day-cases-and-new-outpatients-25-november-2025/

Important note – These latest statistics up to 31 October 2025 cover all patients waiting for a new outpatient appointment or treatment as an inpatient or day case, as well as those seen and removed from a waiting list covered by the national standards. Individual patients are counted more than once if they are waiting to attend more than one scheduled hospital appointment or admission, so the official statistics shown here do not reflect the actual [lower] number of individuals involved.

The above data are thus for ‘pathways’ as are those below for NHS England but those do not separate outpatient and inpatient. So the NHS Scoland figures are:

Ongoing waits – 702 986

Waits over 52 weeks – 78 587

UK and Scottish Labour just love comparisons as long as they favour their home country, England.

They won’t like it the first, big one.

As of the latest published data for September 2025 (released in November 2025), the total waiting list stands at approximately 7.39 million pathways compare to the NHS Scotland list, pro rata, 7.02 million, 5% shorter.

For waits over 52 weeks, the NHS England figure is still better at 180 329, lower pro rata than in Scotland, but this was achieved by the Johnson government throwing cash (10% of it ours?) at the private sector to clear knee, hip and cataract ops and there are concerns that this target for those with non-life threatening conditions is less important than that for 18 weeks, relating to fatal conditions, and that for 12 hours in A&E, on which NHS Scotland does much better.

NHS Ayrshire & Arran Health Board may be in considerable debt but is performing well above the 90% targets and above the national average on four important targets

BBC Scotland, other Scottish media and opposition politicians have been making hay with NHS Ayrshire and Arran’s level of debt, revealed in a recent Audit Scotland report.

They’ve had nothing to say about the above record of achievement on page 11 of the document.

Makes you wonder why?

Ayrshire MP prefers not to tell you about the 99% on time treatment of children and adolescents with mental health problems

Here are the monthly data for NHS Ayrshire & Arran in 2025:

Source: https://www.opendata.nhs.scot/dataset

Even in January, when travel can be difficult, 96.43% were treated within 0 to 18 weeks, the target time.

It was 97-98% in the Spring and in the last two months, 99%!

How does this compare with NHS Scotland’s average. It was better than the latest figure of 91.8%

How does Streeting’s A&E department compare with Stewarts?

In October 2025, NHS North East London Integrated Care Board, Type 1 A&E 62.5% in 4 hours.

https://www.england.nhs.uk/statistics/statistical-work-areas/ae-waiting-times-and-activity/ae-attendances-and-emergency-admissions-2025-26/

In September 2025, NHS NHS Ayrshire & Arran, Type 1 A&E 65.6% in 4 hours.

https://www.publichealthscotland.scot/healthcare-system/urgent-and-unscheduled-care/accident-and-emergency/downloads-and-open-data/our-downloads/

Don’t think a 4.1% difference is unimportant. It means that more than 2 000 of NHS North East London Integrated Care Board’s 48 950 A&E patients would have been treated on time had they gone to the hospital in AYR and that more than 360 of Ayrshire & Arran’s 8 811 patients would not have been treated on time if they’d gone a hospital in Wes Streeting’s health trust.

  1. The Tories supported by Labour cut NHS funding £Billions for years.

Scottish Gov have to mitigate the cuts. Scotland forced to pay for failed Westminster policies. Losing £Billions which could be spent on SNHS and education etc. Eradicating poverty. Scottish Gov reducing child poverty.

Westminster wasting £Billions spent on nuclear, illegal wars, Covid financial fraud. Tax evasion. HS2, Hickley Point etc Brexit wasting Scottish resources and revenues.

  3. A member of my family stood as a candidate for one of the minor parties in the Ayr, Carrick and Cumnock constituency at the General Election. Two family members attended the count and both said, the other candidates and their representatives were very-friendly and helpful. The exception was Ms Stewart and her followers: “arrogant, entitled, superior” were some of the adjectives used about them. As a constituent, I find her a long way down from some of her Labour predecessors as MPs for the constituency – Emrys Hughes, Jim Sillars and George Foulkes. All these MPs werr gentlemen -Ms Stewart is no lady. She comes across, particularly when pontificating on NHS matters as Jackie Baillie with a Scottish accent. You know she is lying – because her lips are moving.

  4. The unionist Health Boards make poor, bad decisions. Appointed. Lay people not Doctors. Lay people making political gains for poor, bad unionist decisions. Even though people die.
