In the Daily Record yesterday:
A row is brewing over delays to complete a multi-million pound mental health inpatient unit, designed to care for children aged 12 to 18 in Ayrshire. The £19m National Secure Adolescent Inpatient Service, known as Foxgrove, was initially due to be completed more than three and a half years ago.
Now Scottish Conservative shadow public health minister- and List MSP for South Scotland- Brian Whittle– has gone on the offensive and attacked the SNP-led Scottish Government for its handling of the scheme.
He said: “This shocking delay is having a devastating impact on children with complex mental health needs here in Ayrshire and right across Scotland.
‘Devastating impact’, eh? That kind of claim calls for some objective evidence such as how well the health board is doing in treating children and young people with mental health problems.
Here are the monthly data for NHS Ayrshire & Arran in 2025:

Source: https://www.opendata.nhs.scot/dataset
Even in January, when travel can be difficult, 96.43% were treated within 0 to 18 weeks, the target time.
It was 97-98% in the Spring and in the last two months, 99%!
How does this compare with NHS Scotland’s average. It was better than the latest figure of 91.8%

This indicates a number of things.
Firstly, so supposedly left wing Daily Ranger is happy to platform a Tory MSP.
Secondly, it has simply accepted a press release from the MSP and published it uncritically. As you have shown after a short search, the data for treatment debunk Mr Whittle’s assertion.
Thirdly, we have unionist politicians using people in distress to make cheap, unconstructive political points.

Really just disgraceful Tory/Labcons’ lies, all for their own political and personal gain, or so they hope. Stooping very low, and working against the best interests of the people of Scotland they should hang their heads in shame.
I hope no one buys the daily rancid’s lies.

John, leave Whittle alone. If he is spouting pish like this in politics, it keeps him away from perhaps doing real harm, by getting involved in athletics – something he does know something about.
