Rail staff in England & Wales more than THREE times as likely to be assaulted as those in Scotland

Professor John Robertson OBA

In the Herald yesterday, the above, and:

ScotRail staff have been verbally or physically assaulted more than 1,500 times since 2020, new figures have revealed.  The data, which was obtained through a Freedom of Information request, shows that the total number of assaults on train drivers, conductors, and other staff has decreased each of the last three years.

It’s the usual infantile adding up to get a big number but they do, for once, at least partly reveal the trend – down:

Another FoI request by BBC Kent gives useful comparative data:

Rail workers say they have been spat at, punched and attacked as figures suggest violent assaults against staff and police officers on the train network are at a four-year high. A Freedom of Information request by BBC South East shows that 4,088 attacks were recorded at railway stations across England, Scotland and Wales last year.

So, with a 63 million population, all things being equal, you might expect the England & Wales figure to be at most 12 times that of Scotland with it’s population of 5.5 million, or 1 200, but there were 4 088, more than THREE times as many.

  1. O/T apologies

Well here’s a turn up for the books that exposes how constant it is that the BBC always seem to employ the kind of people , where at some point , these people need to be investigated as they become embroiled in a scandal…….via allegations made against them as one of the BBC’s employees …….

What is the vetting process at the BBC for their employees (apart from often being known to be a Tory sympathiser, supporter and voter….and for some to eventually then become a Tory politician Ha Ha ).

So who is it this time within the BBC that has been accused , via allegations made , by others against them?……….

    Kaye Adams.

It is being reported that “Loose Women presenter Kaye Adams has been taken off her BBC Radio Scotland show following allegations she bullied her co-workers“.

    “Workers” as in plural.

“The star, 62, has been removed from her £155,000-a-year job hosting the morning show while bosses conduct an inquiry into complaints from junior colleagues that she ‘shouted and screamed’ at them“.

    “Colleagues” as in plural.

So when it is a case of an allegation that involves a one on one spat ….it could potentially just be considered to be a personality clash then you perhaps pick a side as to whom you believe.

However when it is more than one person alleging something…..then you do begin to wonder whether there is any foundation in what they (plural) are alleging against that one individual.

As in when there is a consensus among a group of people all accusing the same person of doing the same thing…….so then it seems as if there could be some validity to their combined same accusation/allegation……

I mean the only alternative would be that they, as a group of people, were orchestrating a personal vendetta against that same person……..but why would they do that ?

God knows what conclusion this BBC investigation will end up establishing upon this, perhaps the allegations will indeed be proven and so believed , so that being the case , then what punishment , if any at all , will they, the BBC, see fit to hand out to the person (Adams) that was accused and then was found to be guilty of “bullying Junior members of staff”.

Though it seems that, as timing , these allegations are something that perhaps some of the accusers saw as being good, or the best, timing what with the reported cuts to be made to BBC GMS ……as in speak up now and perhaps finally be heard and also maybe even believed , at a time when the BBC are looking to make cuts to the GMS programmes which Kaye Adams herself is a part of……………

Obviously worth saying these are , at present, just allegations (plural) from various people (plural) at the moment…….let’s see what happens and what the BBC finally concludes on this after their investigation……….

However, if it is found to be true as allegations, then how will ITV justify her, Adams, still being an anchor on the panel of their programme Loose Women….that also, as a programme, has been subject to cuts as well.

Ironic how all of Kaye Adams phone -ins on her GMS programme are often seemingly set up to encourage a pile on against others, one target often being the SNP, and now she , via these allegations, is now the one being judged and accused thus perhaps she will then be the one who is also subject to a ‘pile on’ ….if , that is, she is found to be guilty of what is being alleged. (or she will be judged perhaps even before the verdict is reached upon these allegations).
