How Wes Streeting’s NHS app has failed the people of England

Professor John Robertson OBA

In the Times on 30 September 2025, the above and:

Wes Streeting has attacked the SNP over its “shameful” failure to launch an NHS app for Scottish patients. The UK health secretary told the Labour conference that while progress was being made in England and Wales on tackling waiting lists and harnessing innovative new technologies in the health service, standards were continuing to deteriorate in Scotland. He highlighted the failure of the Nationalist government to launch an app for the health service — one has been in use in England for the past six years.

Oooh, has this app improved waiting times in England compared to those in old-fashioned, analogue, Scotland?

Nope,

I could go on.

  1. As a Scot, now living in England( voluntary exile fir family reasons) I cab reort that getting medicsl appointments in England is a huge problem.

I have,Glaucoma abd have struggled since February 2023 to get appointments to check my conditioning whether or not it is stable. Appointmens, arranged with difficulty are frequently cancelled,at the last moment, then I hear nothing for months, despite phoning regularly for updates.

I was offered a Phusiotherapy appointment for a knee problem but this took months as I was referred to private agency calked Connect Health to arrange this. The only contact offered was a phone number which was not manned but sent the caller to a useless website which made you jump through msny hoops only to be told (at various times, my email address, postcode or date of birth were invalid! None of them were and they used the email to tell me my attempt to arrabge,an appointment had failed andI needed a new referral from my GP! All designed, I suspect, to make people think they shouldn’t bother.

  2. Didn’t Wes Streeting say last year that the Welsh (Labour) devolved government’s NHS services were negatively impacted by many of the Tory UK government’s (bad) decisions and also the lack of funding on the NHS (also by the Tory UK government as well). When he was on the Laura Kuenssberg Sunday Politics show.

He was then reminded (by LK) that , as an opinion, that was not what Labour say in relation to the SNP devolved Scottish government and the Scottish NHS………..as any failures Labour say exist in the Scottish NHS are all then, by the Labour party, totally blamed upon the SNP as the Scottish devolved government !

So now he, Streeting, is reverting to (Labour) type…..

    #LabourNastyParty and #LabourDoubleStandards

Does he think he has a ‘winning’ argument to help Labour win next year in Scotland ?

Surely he knows that it is now looking as if …..that (Labour) ship has already sailed….it is sinking…and hopefully will not ever dock ever again….successfully……… anywhere within Scotland……

    #DoNotVoteLabour………….as there will be………

    #NoChange……&……..#NoNewDirection……..with Labour.

    “Renew Britain” ?

The reality is that Labour have only ‘renewed’ themselves …………into a new version of the Tory party…..with a huge dose of Reform UK within the mix as well……..a right wing alliance of right wing ideas , plans , policies and slogans…..for what is fast becoming a right wing fascist UK State………under Labour, Tory or Reform UK….take your pick they are all the same.

    1. “Labour” are merely enablers for the Reform UK fascist state. Transition managers.

“Labour” do not care if they lose the next English Parliament GE because if they do lose, Reform will win.

  3. Perhaps Westminster should be replaced by an app – when it fails, that might be our best way of escaping the madness of English rule.
