More than £150m will be spent by the government to investigate how best to dispose of the 140 tonnes of radioactive plutonium it currently stores at a nuclear plant. Sellafield in Cumbria holds the world’s largest stockpile of the hazardous material.
Earlier this year, the government announced the material would not be reused and instead would be made ready for permanent disposal deep underground and put “beyond reach”. Storing it in its current form is expensive and difficult as it frequently needs to be repackaged because radiation damages storage containers.
Mid Copeland and South Copeland in Cumbria are the only two sites in the UK currently being considered by the government to host a nuclear waste disposal site.
It follows a possible site in Lincolnshire earmarked by the government body Nuclear Waste Services pulling out in June.
Nobody in England wants it.
Why?
Plutonium can have several adverse effects in humans. One of these is its carcinogenic effect. If plutonium is inhaled, it will be trapped and immediately transferred to the blood or lymph system, and then to the other parts of the body, such as the liver and bones. The alpha radiation emitted by plutonium may eventually cause cancer as it stays in the body for years. Studies have found that inhalation of plutonium-239 aerosols causes lung cancer, liver cancer, and bone sarcoma. In addition, it may cause damage to the kidneys.
Plutonium may contaminate water from accidental releases and disposal of radioactive waves, while it may contaminate the soil through fall out during nuclear weapons testing.1
Have they tried this in Scotland before?
Yes, in 1980, pre-devolution, the Thatcher Government planned to store huge quantities of nuclear waste inside Mullwharchar, a hill at the south end of Loch Doon and visible from Ayr. The local Tory MP, George Younger, said and did nothing to prevent it despite, or perhaps because of, being Secretary of State for Scotland and a cabinet member. Local protest groups, in the end, managed to have the plan abandoned but no thanks to him or to the local Tories.2

It was ascertained decades ago, that the best/safest disposal side for nuclear waste, were the geologically deep clay beds in the south of England.
It has never been mentioned since. Surprise, surprise !

Westminster Gov spend £13Billion a year decommissioning nuclear. Yet they want to build more. They are flying nuclear waste worldwide. Left a total contaminated mess at Rosyth without permission. Contaminated nuclear subs. Dumped without permission. Faslane dumped by UK and US Gov. A total waste of time and money. Contaminating Scotland. An illegal mess which needs to go.
Vote for Independence. Get rid of any more nuclear waste. Dumped without permission. Breaking the law.

“Spineless Labour”….100%….as in the whole of Labour UK are….in their clear dereliction of duty, as a supposed opposition party , who as an opposition party are supposed to represent an opposing view to other political parties, like say those parties in opposition to them, that is the Tories and Reform UK
However it seems Labour are refusing to call out and so challenge Nigel Farage & Reform UK and all of their disgusting plans for their UK….. that seem to be , as Reform UK’s future plans, a carbon copy of what Trump & his party , the Republicans , are implementing just now in America.
In fact Labour are currently going to great lengths to endorse much of what Farage says in a ‘imitation is the sincerest form of flattery’ exercise just now…..and the media seem to be revelling in all of , checks notes, ‘news’ that Farage and his party are providing them with…..especially the ******* madness we are witnessing outside hotels housing asylum seekers…..
Apparently there are a group of women who are called ‘The Pink Ladies” and they refer to themselves as being ‘just ordinary mothers’…..who all wear pink T-shirts and protest outside these hotels housing asylum seekers….on the T-shirts are the words “Leave our Kids alone”…..of course pink as a colour is symbolised, as in associated with , the Breast Cancer campaign…but the far right and so the gullible and those who are too easily swayed will hijack anything to further their racist cause…..
What about the home grown grooming gangs that exist online….as in white British men….who have existed on social media for a long long time trying to groom young children, of both sexes…..so much so the Police set up a Cyber Unit to try to catch some of these individuals…..
Also see paedophile politicians, celebrities, an alleged member of the current Royal family, religious members….so where were these ‘Pink Ladies’ then, as a group of “ordinary Mothers” who were , as a supposed ‘protest’ group , those who decided to start up this group (long ago as in prior to 2025) as they wanted to supposedly protect their kids ?
Well it seems that back then they were AWOL as in did not exist….before they, the so called “Pink Ladies”, formed to protest only against ‘migrants’ or those they call ‘Illegal immigrants; which is incorrect as they are asylum seekers waiting to be assessed …..but racists never include facts in their protests.
Funny how these “Pink Ladies” did not exist at a time when home grown White British men were grooming kids and so were a threat to their kids………as it seems they, the “pink Ladies” only now oppose and so protest against , checks notes, Asylum seekers and the threat all (?) of them supposedly represent to the “Pink Ladies” kids…..Hmm
BTW – “Pink Ladies” in India referred to the Gulabi Gang, a women’s vigilante group from Uttar Pradesh, known for their bright pink saris and for empowering women, fighting corruption, and seeking justice against domestic and sexual violence, especially in rural and deprived areas…….as in real “Pink Ladies”……….
An author, John Elledge , responded to the news published yesterday that stated that Reform UK have now hit the 35% mark in a poll conducted by the ‘I’ Newspaper….as he posted this on Blue Sky:

The BBC website’s supposed, checks bloody notes, ‘UK’ (English) page and supposed ‘UK’ (English) Politics page both have as their top story a ‘protest’ at a hotel in Epping……apparently “arrests were made”….”one for violent disorder, one for assaulting a police officer, and another for drink-driving”….
So what did the “Pink Ladies” think of this….did they think that these unlawful incidents were “safe” for “their kids”…..as they were home grown threats….what’s the stats on drink drivers killing others….even potentially (and in some cases actually) killing “Kids”………….also the “assaulting of a Police Officer”…..so do the so called “Pink Ladies” not support English ‘Law & Order” but instead they only endorse and support MOB RULE…..with them being a part of that MOB.
These many ‘protests at Hotels” are all of course a huge distraction, as well as being a disgusting travesty, to the news that food prices are still rising, energy prices will be rising again and that in their UK today, as decided by an English Labour UK government, the poor, most vulnerable, the disabled and many pensioners will all suffer via the impact of the current Labour UK government as they will also surely suffer under any future Reform UK and Tory UK governments…..
However (some good news for the rich) as the wealthy are being protected and so they will see no huge detrimental impact upon their luxurious and extravagant standard of living in any wealth tax being applied upon them…..indeed the opposite is happening now and will also happen in the future via Reform UK and the Tories as potential future UK governments…..as Labour, the Tories and Reform UK work for the rich not for the poor(est) in their UK.
Also meanwhile a certain female author thinks that the biggest problem within the UK just now is Trans people…..eyes wide shut….for obvious reasons…..not so much her having her finger on the pulse of what is topical and terrible as issues within her UK……
As it is more like her trying to resuscitate a dead (anti) Trans corpse of a cause…..minute, as in tiny, in the context of all of the actual real BIG S*** going down in her UK…..but all that for her is #OperationWheesht……..
Apparently her concern is support for (only some) women….not to include WASPI women, Palestinian women (and children including female children) being murdered or women who are pensioners or women in receipt of Benefits…..all excluded as being worth her highlighting and fighting for against various, UK governments ….including Labour……
So really her 2014 tribute Nostradamus act….in her stated future predictions in her composing a wee ditty aka part of the Better Together campaign….as in a con…..has fallen flat on it’s face as an actual prediction that has now been realised…..as the ******* opposite has ******* happened for Scotland……..#Fail
I missed the part where she predicted Labour, the Tories and a new party Reform UK would try to turn her UK into a far right S***Hole…..keeping Scotland down….and ‘out’ of all negotiations for their (and her) UK.
The UK is S*** and always has been for Scotland…even in 2014…..and those who still support the UK within Scotland are currently to be found with their heads (still) in the ******* sand….as in they think that if they do not acknowledge it ….then it aint happening…….especially they assume not happening….. because of their beloved UK State.

“Illegal”…..as in those who outstay their visas in the UK or who do not apply for a visa to stay legally within the UK.
However those who are staying in hotels , as in asylum seekers, are applying for a visa to stay within the UK…so they are not illegal and so cannot be categorised as being “illegal immigrants” in these hotels and Hostels.
Ukraine Refugees …..well there is a “Fast track system” that has been set up for them by the UK government…..this is not a system that they, the UK government(s), have set up for other refugees (where many other refugees have fled from places where there was an actual illegal war….as in the one in Iraq, which was the fault of Tony Blair a former Labour PM and also the fault of former Republican US President(s) , George Bush (both Snr and Junior), and their respective countries….that is the USA and the UK State.
Is there a “fast track system” for Palestinians being murdered by the Israeli government and the IDF….or is the UK government more concerned in still ‘fast tracking’ weapons to Israel to help murder these Palestinian ordinary people, including their children…..for their UK to profit via the selling of arms to Israel and also for them to support Israel’s far right government……asking on behalf of all of those who hate hypocrites….like , for instance, this Labour UK government.
All this talk about how those who protest outside Hotels feel…..and how we (others) should respect and consider their opinions and position………this is the same ones who give not a S*** on how we feel and who also disrespect, ignore and diss our opinions and our position upon this……
Though we all know now who the media in their UK is siding with….and that is who they always side with…….the wrong ******* side….and obviously that includes us in Scotland who hate Racists, Bigots and all of those who promote Hate over Hope …..and who also all fail to empathise with anyone or anything that they assume is different #Others…as in those who are non white, non ‘British’ (soon to be only non English) and so are non British/English Nationalists……
2025 is an expected result/outcome/conclusion for us who wanted Scottish independence…..as in on how we said it would be (unfold) in 2014, in a future UK…..
However others pretended it would not be that way……..well it is now here and it is ******* terrible and unbearable….just wait until 2029….as if the Reform UK bubble does not burst…..then the total destruction of Scotland , as a nation, will then surely be completed as an action by the new far right UK government ……….
So total UK control will be once again here , via the UK government, and devolution will then be a memory….lost….but actually lost because some people here in Scotland helped others to destroy it….so let’s not just blame the media and rogue political parties….as included as those who are also culpable for this…. are those within Scotland who have conspired both before and after 2014 with all of those who want to see Scotland under the thumb of their England….and then with us as second class citizens whose needs and hopes will never be met…..still.

Well some still will…..but surely some will see they made a catastrophic decision that now is having a catastrophic impact on them and their families…..
We will soon see….but nothing surprises me now in and with politics ……as the only constant seems to be that some people still think they can keep making the same bad decisions in who they vote for while expecting different results…..only to be disappointed…..yet still willing to do the same thing over and over and over again….
I do wonder some times what is the ******* point ……as we do all have ‘lives to live’ and unless things change then some of us may just either leave the UK State ad go live elsewhere ……….or just put up and shut up and then try to live our lives as best we can….as it will seems as if others do not want to live their best lives as instead they want to still suffer within the UK………..so really what is the ******* point then in us continuing our fight ?
