‘If I die, it’s your fault for employing more GPs?’ No wait…..there are MORE? Didn’t someone predict fewer on the Telly this morning? They’re working harder too so…the Record is confused

Professor John Robertson OBA

The ‘Scottish’ media had been getting themselves into a right tizzy yesterday hopefully anticipating reduced GP numbers to reinforce the above story from BMA (Anti-Scotland) about how difficult it is to access over-worked GPs.

The results didn’t helped them so they’re not looking.

First there are more GPs, 3 591.5 in 2024/2025 compared 3453.1 to last year, 138 more, but for the Daily Record ever creative, that was down on the randomly selected 2019 figure of 3 613, a only 21.5 more.

Most confused, in the light of their Number of hours worked by GPs in Scotland lower than 2019, headline, in year when they were keen to tell use there more GPs, what are we to think of the Record report other than

There are fewer GPs now but they’re working harder to serve their patients?

The full story in all its glorious confusion and desperation, by the Record’s Westminster Reporter (?) is at: https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/news/politics/number-hours-worked-gps-scotland-35794057

  1. BBC Website Scotland page……Yep I saw that too….and then……

Article first put on 25 August. (Top article)

Now been updated 26 August. (so now the third article).

    Updated how ?

Well the original article was entitled:

“If I die, it’s your fault’ – the patients angry at GP delays”

Included in this article was this “The trade union also points to GP recruitment targets not being met, high vacancy rates and an increasing workload for doctors”.

Then yesterday news was released that “In August 2025, Scotland saw a 4% increase in it’s full time equivalenet (FTE) GP workforce, reaching its highest level since before the pandemic“.

Of course this did not warrant an new article on the BBC website….instead they have added on an ‘analysis piece’ to their original (#SNPBAD) article on the 25 August that says the opposite……how sneaky and yet so predictable of the BBC.

So the analysis they have added onto this is by Lisa Summers their so called Scottish Health Correspondent’ aka another #SNPBAD correspondent on BBC Scotland News team.

    She states this….

“It is a positive sign that the total number of GPs in Scotland has gone up and the government will hope that this trend continues”.

But the latest data suggests the first minister’s promise to tackle the early morning lottery for GP appointments will still be a challenge”.

“But”…there is always a “But” , a “However”, a “opposition parties say” or “Some critics say” or even “the Trade Union says” ….whenever there is any good or positive news linked to Scotland or especially if , that good news or positivity, is linked to the Scottish government.

Summers then goes onto to a historical promise made by the FM which she thinks will still be a challenge (so her opinion)….as she writes:

“In 2017, the government pledged that by 2027 it would increase the GP workforce by 800. That figure, which includes those who may work part-time, has so far only increased by 197″

Summers seems determined, in her supposed analysis , to undermine this good and positive news on GP’s increasing in Scotland….with a ‘aye, but your still probably not going to meet the target you pledged”…….

(Remember with Scotland there is never any circumstances that apparently have an impact upon us, as a country, that prevents targets our government have set being met or performances being impacted in Scotland)….

However both the various UK governments and too the Welsh Labour government….well with them , there are always mitigating circumstances, Global events etc that then apparently effect their targets being met and their respective performances being impacted on their public services…but apparently this is never ever the case for Scotland or it’s government…well according to the media that is….especially and more so the BBC in Scotland.

(Also how many targets , promises and pledges have Keir Starmer, Anas Sarwar and the Labour party made that they have not met or fulfilled…..indeed their targets/promises/pledges have failed and also been broken way too many times….that it is now beyond embarrassing , seems in fact to be a habit with them…….. and yet somehow that’s no big deal for the BBC in Scotland….maybe they , the BBC here, should begin to forensically analyse that consistent failure by other parties, especially now with Labour).

Summer then continues in her #SNPBAD analysis with…..

“So there is a way to go to meet the ten-year target. And doctors say funding is an issue too” .

So she, Summers, is just piling on more and more negativity thus she is trying to generate uncertainty and a lack of confidence in the public towards the Scottish government on this topic…..

So then this good news on GP’s increasing in Scotland is lost in a ‘pile on’ of words by a BBC propagandist , whose main purpose in her supposed ‘analysis’ is to try to detract from it being received as good news by the Scottish public, and also as it then being regarded as progress.

The BBC in Scotland …..is where any good news goes to die…..but only when it is good news on Scotland or the Scottish government…and it is the BBC in Scotland who kills it off…as good news….every time.

  2. O/T apologies

    MSM Monitor

“Labour called BBC BritNat Breakfast this morning to cancel a scheduled interview with House Jock Michael Shanks after Ofgem announced energy bills would rise this winter by more than expected. Would Labour dare do this on a BBC programme south of the border”?

Included with MSM Monitor’s tweet was a sample of BBC’s Radio GMS where Gary Robertson was telling us that “Breaking news energy bills set to rise from the start of October. He then said they had hoped to hear from the Energy Minister Michael Shanks on this morning’s programme but we have been told he is not available for interview”……

“Not available for interview” translates as when there is bad news on energy bills , like say an increase, when Labour and he formerly assured us energy bills would go down, then he , Shanks, would not be open to be being challenged on this…..

Aye so much for Labour’s “target” on energy bills going down when they got into power…..perhaps get BBC Scotland’s energy correspondent to do an analysis piece on how Labour, as the new UK government, with this reserved power, are failing to meet a pledge that they promised us they would meet…..as in energy bills going down if they won the GE last year…however since winning all that has happened with this new Labour UK government is that energy bills have kept going up………

Now Labour, and their respective Ministers, are trying to avoid scrutiny and accountability….eventually they will find something or someone else to blame this upon….as it is never ever them to blame but instead it is always either global factors, mitigating circumstances, wars in other countries etc etc……….so why then make these promises that they obviously cannot keep…well we all know why….to win power.

So I think I will still take no notice of the BBC in Scotland or indeed the Labour party standing in judgement against the Scottish government or the SNP as a party……as they both are hardly those who can pretend that they do much better (with the BBC as a supposed broadcaster and Labour as a supposed government)…………..

  3. I listened to 15 mins of Kaye Adams (union propagandist) discussing the stress GP are under. The MSM like gossip Kaye are part of the problem, she encourages poor behaviour towards health staff as well as setting unobtainable goals.
