Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer was quoted in 2023 as saying that “Labour had changed permanently under his leadership”.

He then stated “if you don’t like that, if you don’t like the changes that we’ve made, I say the door is open, and you can leave”.

Well guess what….people are now acting upon that and so many are now leaving Labour as party members…..and also leaving as Labour voters…where future voting intentions are showing that Labour are down in the recent polling outcomes.

In February 2025 Labour List reported that Labour membership was down by 11%……since the 2024 UK GE.

In August 2024 (one month after the UK GE) it was reported that membership of the Labour party was at it’s lowest level in ten years.…….as under Jeremy Corbyn as the former Labour leader the membership was recorded as being 532,000 and then last year, under Keir Starmer as the new Labour leader, membership in August 2024 was down to 370,450, that is a loss of 161,550 members.

(Labour list, as of February 2025, now has the Labour membership at 309,000 so that is a further loss of 61,450 members since last August….so, for Labour, membership is still going down down down…as are the future voting intentions from the same public who elected them as the new UK government in July 2024)

So to quote Keir Starmer it is obvious that some members (quite a lot actually) “don’t like” him as Labour leader, “don’t like” Labour as a party and also “don’t like” the supposed “permanent changes” that he , Starmer, has made to Labour, as a party , under his leadership.

You see when people do become members (and voters) of political parties they do so because they see that a specific party is the one that seems to represent them best as people, also that party is seen as being the one that represents their values and their beliefs best ,also , as a political party, it is seen by those party members and voters as being distinct from other political parties, that they , as party members and voters , disagree with and so then they would never vote for those other parties.

Keir Starmer made the huge mistake in aligning his new “permanently changed” Labour party with much of the same policies , rhetoric, language and ideology as their main (supposed) opposition , as in the Tory party, who also, as party, fell into the trap of adopting the same policies, rhetoric, language and ideology as Nigel Farage’s various (pretend) political parties…..and look at what has happened to the Tory party now !

Starmer is also now making that mistake in him adopting that which Farage is promoting…..in what is clearly a weak submission by him, as the Labour leader, that he now is seemingly conceding that Labour cannot “beat” Reform UK , so Labour , as a party, may as well “join them”, in also now promoting similar policies, rhetoric, language and ideology as Reform UK, and so therefore Labour are legitimising Reform UK’s horrific future plans to try to ensure that their UK becomes a mini version of Trump’s America…..with America calling the shots of course………

There is so so so very much that Labour have got wrong including (but not exclusively )……….

Targeting the wrong people (the old, most vulnerable and poorest) to try to fill their Treasury coffers aka “financial black hole, while simultanously they seem determined not to target those other people who are more than able to fill their Treasury coffers aka “financial black hole” (as in those who are the wealthy, the large corporations and also the large-andforeign- Tech companies)……….

Supporting , and so not acting against, a foreign country who are governed by those who are cruel and violent oppressors , who have committed Genocide on a people and whose leader has been condemned by an International Court as one who is now considered to be a war criminal…….#ArrestWarrant

Badly letting down WASPI women, when prior to them winning the UK GE, they, Labour, including Keir Starmer, pledged their support for compensation to be paid to WASPI women….but now that they, Labour, are in charge since winning the 2024 UK GE, they have now abandoned and betrayed those same WASPI women…..

Failing to reduce our energy bills , when prior to the UK GE they, Labour, seemed to suggest that this, as an action, could be done (easily and immediately ?) via imposing a windfall tax on Energy companies. Indeed Labour (via Starmer) , when they were the official opposition party to the Tory party, berated the Tory party and the Tory PM for not acting upon this and so for not bringing down the very high energy bills for consumers…..but see what has happened re this now …..#Nowt (indeed how many increases have we seen now since July 2024 to our energy bills ?).

Hyping up GB Energy , pre the UK GE, having it’s headquarters in Scotland, which so far has proven to be nothing more than a ‘nameplate exercise’ for Scotland, as so far there has been no jobs created in Scotland from it , the Chairman of GB Energy is based in Manchester and not at the supposed GB Energy HQ office in Scotland and also there has been no financial benefit to Scotland , mainly because Labour rejected Zonal pricing , which would have seen a reduction in energy bills within Scotland (the same Scotland where we ,as a nation, are now sending electricity to various parts of England as we have a surplus #Excess…..but that means nowt as there will be no financial benefit for us, as in us seeing some reward/pay off …..like say us having lower energy bills in Scotland as opposed to having the highest electricity standard charges within the UK ….).

Basically we are not seeing any significant “change” under Labour from the terrible policies and decisions that we all had to suffer under the former UK government when the Tories were in charge…..in fact it almost seems as if we still have the Tories in charge as a UK government and so I wonder how those, within Scotland, who decided to vote Labour last year in the GE , now feel since they have suffered the same under Labour as they did under the Tories.….for example……

Still a high cost of living…..still the poorest being demonised….still the demonising and othering of those who come here from other countries to seek asylum…….still better rules for some (the few) and worse rules for others (the many)………still a clampdown on protests marches in what should be a human right to express one’s opinion and one’s opposition to what one considers to be wrong and so one opposes it……still a succession of scandals similar to the Tories (both individually as Labour MP’s and as a Labour party/government)…..still letting people down who have had an entitlement unfairly taken away from them (WASPI women) in not addressing an injustice……still supporting oppressive foreign governments who murder innocent women and children…..still committed to Brexit….still finding a vast amount of money for defence yet seemingly still declaring there is no ‘Magic money tree’ for other more essential services like say the NHS, Care service, Welfare State etc……still contributing to and so subsidising the extremely wealthy English Royal family ……still pandering to bankers in not capping Bankers bonuses, still telling Scotland NO to another independence referendum and also declaring that we are the poor relations within their (dysfunctional) family of nations who, as a poor relation, are having to be subsidised (but by whom, the UK or England)…….etc etc etc

( So really think Labour and you then really get Tory however you also now need to add into this equation Reform UK , that is when you think Labour and you then get Tory you then also get Reform UK).

Has anyone read a JKR review of the UK since 2014….where there was a omission in her 2014 prediction of what Scotland would experience if we voted NO, as in we would eventually see a right wing UK (via Labour and Tory) that would , very much in England, then elect a Nigel Farage -pretend- extreme right wing party to be the next UK government in 2029…..or has she not got round to that yet…..like she ignores WASPI women, the murder of women and girls in Gaza as part of her rights for women campaign on Twitter aka a seemingly “monomaniacal” quest…..that often ends up as #SNPBAD (reminiscent of 2014 really by her…is it not).

To hell with the UK and the likes of JKR, Katie Hopkins , Kelvin McKenzie , Dan Wootten, Farage, GB News, the UK gutter press and all others who are cut from the same cloth as those I have named….especially as far as Scotland seeking it’s independence is concerned , as they all have no faith in Scotland being a successful independent country but they do have a huge amount of faith and support for England and also for right wing parties (Labour, Tory, Reform UK) to govern in their UK in an English parliament.

That above is as good a reason to want out of the UK as any ….surely…..we just need a way to communicate it all to far far more voters within Scotland for them to then also come to that same rational and logical conclusion too….based on a S*** load of evidence that more than proves our case…….

  1. One has only to listen to Labour apologist James O’Brien of LBC to know that some believe that not being the ACTUAL Tory Party is enough to qualify Starmer’s Labour Party ( sic ) as the best Government we can get at the moment .

Regardless of the catalogue of U-turns , broken promises/pledges , etc..and the accumulation of a mountain of Freebies from some very dodgy donors , and the incompetence displayed by the PM himself , the Chancellor , the Home Secretary and various other Ministers (some of whom have not had to resign due to scandal ) they stagger on pretending that CHANGE , if stated often enough and loudly enough will persuade the electorate that they are not as despicable a bunch as the previous administration – and God knows they were bad !

Soon they may resort to banning any outright criticism of their actions – as with Palestine Action – and Starmer will embroil us in a war ( big or small ? ) in order to deflect from the mess they are incapable of sorting .

    1. I wouldn’t put it past Starmer, either by incompetence or to save his political career, to get us into one huge clusterf*** of a war. We have to rely on the Scottish electorate to remove Starmer from Scotland’s future. Fingers crossed eh? John Lawson.

  2. From what I’ve read on English forums, erstwhile longtime Labour members have been tearing up their membership cards in increasing numbers, and surprisingly the same is being said of the Tories even if not quite so spectacular – There’s an awful lot of politically homeless voters in England now, and counter to the media narrative, they despise Reform even more.

Faith in UK politics has almost collapsed in England, and I suspect we’ll see the same in Scotland…
