Gaza protests – Why not target those who are part of the complicit Labour UK government?

By Liz S

“Pro-Palestinian protesters STORM John Swinney’s Fringe appearance”

There is a video on YouTube of this (via The Daily Mirror , the client media of the Labour party)…..call me cynical but there are (were) other political interviews during the Fringe and I wonder if some of these same ‘protestors’ or others will ‘protest’ or did ‘protest’ at these other political events (interviews) on the Fringe…..

Anas Sarwar, from Labour was one of the other political interviewees at the Fringe and his interview was not subject to pro Palestine protests …..so why was he, as a Labour politician, exempt from these same pro Palestine ‘protests’ ?

The John Swinney event was disrupted five times by six different groups of protesters who held up signs spelling the word “genocide”.

As in it was ‘orchestrated’ but by whom ?

Surely it would have been far more apt to have protested at a event with a Labour politician …….something smells badly…..or someone felt it would be more damaging to target the Scottish FM than to target Labour’s man in Scotland, Anas Sarwar, and that seems way off as a position for any pro Palestine ‘protestor’ to take …….

Indeed why not target those who are part of the Labour UK government………Matt Forde interviewed Ian Murray yesterday , Murray is part of Labour’s UK government, same government that has supplied Israel with arms and also with huge support in defending them for so long……

Once again #SNPBAD yet somehow these ‘protestors’ chose to not classify any Labour politician in the fringe as being #BAD in respect to Palestine…..really ?

So no inside the venue ‘protest’ or disruption for a Labour politician fringe event……are we sure it was really a ‘pro Palestine protest’ as it seemed more like a #SNPBAD protest…..

Very fishy or downright stupid….either fits…..and both stink to high heaven as a chosen ‘protest’….that was very much, as a ‘protest’ , one that was made against the ‘wrong’ political target…..

(Iain Dale’s Fringe show had Rachel Reeves and also Jess Phillips on last week on the 2 August and he also interviewed Lord Dannatt , he is the peer embroiled in a scandal , where he was accused of lobbying government ministers against the group Palestine Action on behalf of an American company that he is paid to be an adviser for……where were these same pro Palestine ‘protestors’…..were they outside this venue for Dale’s Fringe show of political interviews as they could not get in… hmm?….

In fact how did the Fringe event for John Swinney have so many different pro Palestine ‘protestors’ who somehow managed to get their large placards into the venue…..does the media care to investigate that……

  1. Yes thanks Liz. I already made my similar views known on DM’ s Youtube about this but I guess this is becoming the general theme now. I have long since been alerting Scot Government Minister’s to the real threat these podcasts are becoming with apparently no robust defence put forward. To my mind the SNP seems unable or reluctant to call these out instead of appointing ‘nighttime economic minister’ as suggested they would do well to employ someone who is able to counter and expose these IMHO ‘orchestrated’ protests for what they are.

  2. …because they are highly likely to be labour supporters who don’t want to upset their own apple cart. This is not just about the labour party here, it also has to do with members of trades unions who support the labour party. Trades unions are the main reason there was so much support in Britain against the apartheid regime in South Africa. And, as a former union shop-steward and labour party supporter back in the day, I wholeheartedly agreed. But, where is the same trades union support for Palestine; for Gaza, today? In the 1980s and 90s many tens of thousands would regularly march in Glasgow and Edinburgh in support of the rights of black South Africans In a week when Sydney, Australia, had over 300,000 protesters on the street in support of Palestine, the norm for such a march in Glasgow these days is about two hundred folk.

Don’t say Hamas is the reason. The British left, me among them, supported the African National Congress in South Africa and its militia Umkhonto we Sizwe which did more damage in SA the Hamas has ever done in Gaza. So, where are the trades unions on this? Kow-Towing to their, ultra right-wing zionist supporting, labour party masters.

But something needs said, and they need to be seen saying it, so John Swinney gets it in the neck while labour supporting consciences are salved.

  3. What better way to imply that the SNP and ScotGov are somehow complicit (we all know it’s the EngLabcons’ complicity) in the genocide…sending a completely false message to the world about Scotland, John Swinney and the SNP. Job done eh.

Few folks will know about the SNP attempting to exercise their parliamentary right to call for a vote at Westminster on demanding a ceasefire, and few will know that all foreign policy and defense etc are wholly controlled by the English/UK regime in London.

BritNat tactics at work…it’s going to get ‘worse’. Sigh.

    1. Whole heartedly agree with all of the above comments….

Some of these ‘protestors’ may indeed be Labour supporters, however they must then be gutted to know that Labour , in respect to what is happening to Palestinians , are definitely , as a political party, on the wrong side , in them , as the current UK government, going to great lengths to excuse much of the disgusting behaviour of the Israeli government and also the IDF against Palestinians.

(Though I suspect that above fact is insignificant as a reality , as the whole point of that ‘protest’ , was , I suspect to, as ArtyHetty stated,” imply that the SNP and ScotGov are somehow complicit” in this genocide……so then it was a politically motivated method by them in their politically motivated madness aka their so called fake very much politically driven #SNPBAD ‘protest’).

Some Trade unions supporting the Labour party that currently exists are also, as an actuality, unexplainable, it’s as if they, as a Trade Union, are somehow oblivious to where Labour now stands politically #NotOnTheLeft……perhaps some within certain Trade Unions are themselves , as individuals, more career focused to equal some of those who are now Labour politicians.

Look at some of the registered interests on the UK parliament website for some of the Labour MP’s who were elected last year in Scotland and see the financial donations via certain Trade Unions , then think why many of these same Trade Unions act as extensions of the Labour party when they criticise and target the SNP.

These protests at the John Swinney event defy belief especially when we have not read or heard of similar ‘protests’ at events of other politicians being interviewed at this year’s Fringe…..some of whom are politicians from the Labour UK government …hence my scepticism as to the legitimacy of these specific pro Palestine ‘protestors’ ……..

I mean who holds the real power within the UK to really administer punishment against Israel ?….

      #NotTheScottishGovernment……that’s for sure.

Sickened by it all, including the media who seem to see their role in covering any political news as one where they, as a media, do most of the PR work for the respective political party that they support as a media…where majority support pro UK political parties…..hence their pro UK perspective in the supposed, but clearly not , ‘News where we are’…………

(Rogue media being GB News , Talk TV and also all of the trash gutter press like The Daily Express, Daily Mail, The Sun and so many others now also competing for being categorised as part of the ‘Gutter press’).

      1. Aye, well said Liz S and the other comments. “Gutter press”, a phrase I hadn’t heard for some time, but it certainly fits most of the U.Ks news outlets in this day and age.

      2. The British supported the creation of the Israeli state in order to protect the Suez canal from hostile Arab natives which in turn would threaten the Great British Empire interests in the East.

Now that Empire has, more or less, gone,Westminster takes it’s foreign affairs orders from Washington which,in the main,is entirely pro Israel.

Benny Yahoo and his cronies would never have done what they have to the Palestinians without the unconditional backing of the USA and it’s minions.

The present window dressing of pro Palestinian support and aid delivery demonstrates that what they say and what they do are entirely different matters.

At least Trump & Co are consistent in opposing Palestinian support of any sort, for now.

The protestors at the Swinney event have simply highlighted the need for Scotland to have agency over it’s own foreign policy independent from the USA and it’s puppets in Westminster.

        1. Well said….in other words it , as a situation, did not all start on October 7th 2023….which is what many UK politicians and their various client media would have us all believe to be the case…(many of us knew otherwise).

  4. SCOTS SHOULD NOT SUPPORT GAZAIF THIS IS WAY THE YOUNG GAZA TROOPS TREAT A COUNTRY LIKE SCOTLAND WHO HAVE SYMPATHY FOR THEIR PLIGHT THEY ATTACK OUR LEADER SHAME

    1. “YOUNG GAZA TROOPS”

      Watch the video on YouTube……..

It is under “Pro-Palestinian protesters STORM John Swinney’s Fringe appearance”.

I think you will then see that many of these “TROOPS” are not all “YOUNG” but are middle aged, indeed at the outset of the video one of them shouts something about ….”John Swinney independence” ?????

So WTF does (Scottish) independence have to do with a supposed ‘pro Palestine protest’……absolutely nothing….but it does have a lot to do with an anti SNP protest and an anti independence protest…..also heard one refer to the ‘wains’ so someone (clearly older, maybe even, middle aged) took the time to come through from Glasgow to Edinburgh to, checks notes, ‘protest’.

So I will still support those who are really against what Israel are doing to Palestinians and who also know who, as a government, within the UK has the real power to do something other than utter mealy mouthed words in weak statements that condemn Hamas more than Israel…..

One example (of many) that is evidence of this , is the below tweet that Keir Starmer posted yesterday on Israel’s plan to take over the whole of Gaza (which was always Netanyahu’s goal , which Starmer already knew to be the case, but he played dumb on this )……

      Starmer’s tweet on ‘X’ :

“The Israeli Government’s decision to further escalate its offensive in Gaza is wrong, and we urge it to reconsider immediately. Every day the humanitarian crisis in Gaza worsens and hostages taken by Hamas are being held in appalling and inhuman conditions. We need a ceasefire now”

Note that he , Starmer, cannot just condemn the Israel government’s actions , he must also always include a negative against Hamas….as if he is trying to somehow make people think that Israel are in some way justified for their murdering innocent Palestinians aka genocide.

The Labour UK government have clearly been enablers for what Israel have already done, are still doing and are now intending to do ……and so I think we all know who also has blood on their hands in regards to this genocide…..(as in those who , as a UK government and political party, chose to look away for so long, give their support to Israel’s government from the outset and who, as Labour Friends of Israel, are financially compromised by those financial political donors who are more sympathetic to Israel than Palestine).

So no, I will not stop supporting those who really are protesting against what is happening to Palestinians and neither should you , but only if they, as protestors, choose to target the real political culprits within the UK…..
