Ed Milliband tries to take credit for new Scottish offshore windfarm, approved by SNP, to boost billions-worth of electricity already being transferred to England

Professor John Robertson OBA

Today, the UK Energy Minister, above, appeared to claim credit for the approval of the massive 300 plus turbine, 4.1GW, windfarm off the Scottish coast near Fife and East Lothian:

Even the Scotsman knew who had actually approved it:

One of world’s biggest wind farms with 307 turbines approved near Edinburgh by SNP ministers

though they are hoping it will kill lots of seabirds.

Milliband and his boy from Scotland, below, clearly think this new project will help with their unimpressive achievement:

50%? Is that all?

How is the SNP doing?

What’s happening to the surplus there?

In 2024, Scotland exported a net total of 19.7 terawatt hours (TWh) of electricity to the rest of the UK, with the majority going to England. This equates to approximately 1.64 TWh per month. These figures come from Scottish Government statistics, which note that Scotland exported 21.0 TWh and imported 1.3 TWh in 2024, resulting in the net export value. The indicative wholesale value of these net exports was around £1.5 billion.

  1. The consumption of renewables in in Scotland was 57 % of it’s own generation in 2023, whilst Shanks’s pony was still coming in last at Hamilton, and the UK figure for renewables generation in 2023 was allegedly <20%, and gas was 42%…

So children, do the maths and calculate how much hot air is being generated by Millipede and his boy blunder….

PS – That line on the map going south to Blyth will go the last environmental stunt HMG pulled off, Drax, which is still in operation and counted as ‘renewables’….

    1. Nope, wrong, ‘we Scots’ get to be forced to pay MORE for our electricity etc, including our public services such as our Scottish NHS etc, even Holyrood no doubt has higher bills because of the EngGovs’ higher tariffs on energy in Scotland…you could hardly make it up could you.
It’s a massive boot up the unmentionable for Scotland…brilliant eh.

  2. Excuse my irate comments..I noticed a major Tory rag today had a disgusting front page claiming that the SNP are denying the ‘hostages’ in isra we know where, their freedom, obviously attempting to dine out on J. Swinney asking the EngUKGov to maybe sanction those causing the most inhumane suffering on innocent people in their millions. I just despair.
