Latest poll – Reform UK and its alien values to face ‘impenetrable SNP wall’ in Scotland

Professor John Robertson OBA

From GB News yesterday, the above and:

Reform UK’s hopes of generating a tartan tidal wave have been handed a damning verdict as a pollster has told GB News that the party’s values do not fully resonate with Scottish voters.

According to a recent MRP poll by think tank More in Common, the SNP is set to make a major comeback in the next general election, returning to 2019 levels of strength and bagging 41 of the 57 seats available in Scotland.

When asked whether Scots think Reform UK aligns with their values, George Buchan, founder of GB Insight, told GB News: “Reform UK’s recent surge in Scotland appears to be driven more by frustration with both Labour and the Conservatives than by a strong alignment with Scottish values.

These Scottish values? I’ve been banging on about this for years now. Here are some (a bit dated) examples:

Scotland IS a different place as its universities offer guaranteed places to care leavers

Abuse of women and the disabled far higher in England than in Scotland

Less homicide, less knife crime, less domestic violence, safer cities and now much lower alcohol problems: should Scotland’s old stereotypes be sent south?

Racial hate crimes increase by 33% in England & Wales while falling by 10% in Scotland: Who says we’re not different?

Scottish Muslim students far less likely to report abuse or crime?

Terror de-radicalisation referral rate in Scotland less than one third per capita of that in England

Only in Scotland! ‘A review of small country’s approaches to public policy reform in response to economic, demographic and other pressures found that only in Scotland could this ‘golden thread’ be so clearly discerned’

Scientific evidence that Scots tend to be different from the other groups in rUK?

Who said Scots were not more left-wing than those in the rest of the UK?

With 1 in 4 living wage employers already in Scotland, the Scottish Government aims to make this a ‘Living Wage Nation’

8% of the UK population and 28% of living wage employers. More evidence that we are different enough to want to run the whole show?

80 000 lowest paid workers in NHS England still on poverty wages as NHS Scotland follows Scottish Government policy to pay a living wage to all public-sector employees

Scottish care workers to receive Living Wage for ‘sleepover’ hours while English care workers receive only the National Minimum Wage.

Different Scotland in the UN report on ‘Workhouse Britain’

Scottish values making oil and gas firms a tad different too?

Are Scotland’s employers also different – more willing to pay a decent wage?

With 1 in 4 living wage employers already in Scotland, the Scottish Government aims to make this a ‘Living Wage Nation’

8% of the UK population and 28% of living wage employers. More evidence that we are different enough to want to run the whole show?

Another difference as UK small and medium-sized business people prefer Boris while Scots prefer…

Another difference between Scotland and rUK?

NHS England’s new motto: Who is laike us? Dem few and they err awl daid!

Scottish Government support for small businesses superior to that in non-Scottish parts of UK

Footnote – the above is a Westminster 2029 voting intentions poll but there is little reason to think it does not apply to a large extent for Holyrood 2026 too.

  1. “Scottish values”?

Just wait till the colonial punditry in their imperial newspapers get a hold of that.

“You Jocko types are just the same as wir southron maisters ‘cept you are too poor, too feart, and bluidy useless”.

  2. Let’s hope the people do vote according to the best interests of Scotland and the people of Scotland. The form of D’Hondt system imposed on Scotland by the English re devolution, needs explaining to people especially those new to Scotland.

  3. My son has a couple of Scottish friends in their 30’s, who voted no to independence, one at least who voted for Brexit, and who insist on voting Labour. My son who gets very frustreated with them but isn’t able to communicate why he is pro independence etc, has asked me to send him some info on why Scotland is better off independent so that he can send it to them both. It’s a long list I have with many graphs, and diagrams. I’ll have to spend a wee while in order to narrow it down lol!

  5. I trust no media or polls to tell me how SNP will win next election.

The britnat media have many ways of trying to push independence down.

I will see what happens in the election itself hoping that enough people see sense.
