Herald confirms hospital waiting lists in Scotland far shorter than in Labour Wales with an extra 380 000 waiting longer there

Professor John Robertson OBA

Today, despite two authors working on the story, the Herald’s top story has none of the context that young journos are required to have, if they want to pass 1st Year assessments.

So, more than 629 000 waiting means at most 630 000? Let’s give them that.

For context, to consider how bad or good that headline is, let’s look elsewhere to see if NHS Scotland might learn something.

In Wales, it’s just under 620 0001 but there are only 3.1 million people in Wales and 5.44 million in Scotland, 1.75 times as many.

For comparability, we need to multiply the Welsh figure by that 1.75.

We now have, if the two countries had the same population, a figure of 1.09 million in Wales, 380 000 more, 60% higher, suggesting Welsh Labour need to get a grip on health care there.

  1. Aye ” Dr Sandesh Gulhane said…”…https://archive.ph/VNHKF

Given the Lisa Summers ‘Analysis’ yesterday beginning ” Before the pandemic it was rare for anybody to face a wait of a whole year…”, the gang’s building up steam, there’ll be a tsunami along in a minute…

  2. And yet at FM’s Q’s today Swinney lets Sarwar get away with a reality check again with nothing more than apologies for those isolated cases highlighted which infuriates me. It is times like this I really miss Salmond’s more robust style of leadership.
