Professor John Robertson OBA
For some time, it’s been apparent that the media in the UK, including notably the BBC, have been promoting the interests of Nigel Farage and his Reform UK, despite the ugly nature of their candidates and policies, which I feel sure many of the staff – centrist, socially liberal and educated – must be uncomfortable with.
Look at BBC Scotland above, talking them up and predicting they will do well in 2026.
Who is doing this predicting? Certainly not the pollsters:

Averaging in the mid to low teens, Reform UK will get some regional seats but at the same time will, almost certainly weaken the other Unionist parties and help the SNP win even more constituencies.
Now, in England it’s a very different matter:

in England, Reform UK look nearly twice as strong as they do in Scotland, so why is BBC Scotland so keen to talk them up? Always concerned, first and foremost to undermine the SNP, the only credible threat to their future, are they despairing of the feckless Conservative and Labour opposition in Scotland, both facing collapse in 2026, and feel they must now back these barbarians who at least are their barbarians?
Footnote – look a the SNP leads and wonder why they have such an understated thought for John Swinney.

After the English local election results, on May 2nd, the BBC Scotland main page and politics page on their website had an article written by Philip Sim with a headline ( via the power of suggestion)….
“Will Scotland be next to feel rise of Reform UK”?
Where once again it must be a case of Scotland having to always follow what England does, what England intends to do and so also what England has already done .
To Hell with Scotland ever being allowed to be seen as being different , being better or in us just rejecting the kind of cr*p that is happening down South.
I mean the BBC will just not support that or promote it.
If England is choosing the wrong political party and so the wrong future path for their UK then the BBC must try to ensure that Scotland also will do the exact same.
Sick of saying this as it seems so obvious but……..vote SNP in 2026 as a majority in the Scottish elections.
If nothing else to offset the possibility of the mega protest party called Reform UK causing major disruption in our Scottish parliament and also to stop the BBC saying , sorry them again lying, in declaring that Scotland is also embracing the politics of Reform UK, even if they, Reform UK, become a mere minor element in our parliament after the 2026 elections.
Why do some people in Scotland always vote to try to make things worse for Scotland and also worse for us as a people, rhetorical Q as I do know why some vote the way they do, as do others on here also know that too.
21st century and still some act as if we were still in 1690. (sorry I could not resist, but they , as voters, are not unique, as others in Scotland also seem to want to continue to suffer and so make others in Scotland suffer with them, in them , as ‘others’, also always voting for pro UK political parties who want Scotland to still be part of their Brexit UK, that is run by a succession of terrible UK governments .
I need to give people a break from my succession of rants on here….I feel like I am a broken record saying the same old same old . Apologies but I do suffer from a lot of that ragin feeling Ha Ha

Keep ranting Liz, your writing is much appreciated. Your work, John’s and Stewart’s is always excellent, thank you. We have to keep calling out the BritNats though it’s an uphill struggle with 100% ‘media’ being anti SNP, anti indpendence for Scotland. They have reason to be, we just need to make sure those reasons are growing day by day.

Didn’t they used to be called UKIP? Amazing how a change of name can con people even further.
The BBC and other British nationalist ‘media’ will pull out all the stops to try promote UKIP, now ‘Reform’, in Scotland in the next few months, the propaganda will be off the scale and you can almost hear the minions at the keyboards trying to come up with slogans and soundbites that they rely on so much.
Labours’ ‘One direction’ = no direction for you Scotland.

If truth be told, everything UKIP backward and forward is in reality a child of the Tories – ‘What better enemy than the one you control’, eh Tony ?

A former Tory Councillor who defected to reform UK.
The same Tory who once formerly assured the Scottish public that the Tories were the best party to vote for , then he saw the writing on the wall for the Tories, via polls, and thought it was a good idea to jump ship as in ‘Now is the time’ to try and progress my career.
As one wonder if he will be one of the candidates for next year’s Scottish elections.
Ambition over substance.
I hope Farage does come to Scotland more as that should see Reform UK go down in the polls here as what does his party, an English nationalist party, have to offer us.

At least it will boost home-made milkshake kit sales, even if it makes PS’s job even more difficult…

Ha Ha….shaking all over (Scotland if he comes to visit).
Though it should be the public here in Scotland than need a good ‘Shake’ if they decide to vote for Farage & co.
Reform UK another one who are Tories in all but party name.
