Boris Johnson’s former aide owns a company with no previous polling experience to claim SNP supporters support nuclear energy and a Yorkshire-based ‘Scotsman’ reports it for you – I’d really like to see the full report – I smell something

Ed: I'd really like to see their data and methods but can't see them anywhere. If you can find anything let me know.
BBC Scotland staff discover they’re downstream and downwind of leaky Hunterston B nuclear power station?

By Liz S

The Scotsman published a story yesterday that stated “Majority of SNP’s voters believe nuclear power should be part of Scotland’s mix of clean energy generation” this has now been declared nowt more than a PR stunt .

The Scotsman , which as a newspaper has kept it’s quaint name, I say quaint as a name , as clearly it supports anyone but a person of Scottish origin, and surely in it still retaining the name “The Scotsman” it is breaching the Trade description Act.

Those who currently own it as a newspaper are based in Leeds, England (which explains why we get such a constant negative angle on both Scotland as a nation and also a succession of headlines and articles against the SNP as a political party).

Apparently this ‘poll’ was conducted by some organisation called Britain Remade.

That title alone of the organisation is enough to guarantee that this poll was a crock of you know what.

Who are Britain Remade ?

Well would it shock you to know there were Tories within it’s organisation.

Their CEO was a former (Tory) special advisor at No.10 Downing Street and their Head of Communications was a media Special Adviser to the (Tory) Prime Minister with responsibility for regional media and the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities and he was also he was a Senior Adviser to Tees Valley Tory Mayor Ben Houchen, overseeing political communications and operations.

This is looking murkier by the minute.

On their website they state “Britain Remade is a campaign to promote economic growth. We put forward practical solutions to the problems holding Britain back”.

to the problems holding Britain back” ? (Brexit perhaps ?)

Well as to Britain being “held back” I care not, but it’s clearly being “held back” by political parties like the Tories, as well as too many organisations like Britain Remade, that are set up as yet another type of Think Tank seeking to promote only one political party (in this case it will be the Tories they seek to promote) and also to promote their Tory policies/ideas etc while also undermining other political parties (like say the SNP).

They, Britain Remade, are also yet another pro UK organisation who will stick their nose into our Scottish business and so will do their bit for their Britain to be sustained.

I personally do not care or indeed give too much thought as to what or who is “holding back” their Britain but what I do care about is Scotland being “held back” because it ,as a country, is still within their Britain .

I suspect their “Britain” will never be “remade” and as to their Britain, UK actually, ever re-joining the EU well that , I am sure, will not be a future campaign that this Tory Think Tank, disguised as a ‘campaign’ organisation, will seek to campaign or petition for in order to try to regain the lost “economic growth” of their Britain/UK.

(Why ‘Britain Remade’, what about the UK that includes Northern Ireland, or is NI just another nation , like Scotland and I am sure Wales too, that this organisation cares not a sh*t about).

Lost “economic growth” is also down to parties like the Tories, Labour and other UK parties but also with the political interference by rogue (new) organisations who call themselves ‘Britain Remade’ and who produce rogue polls , which BTW I am sure there will be a succession of, which I am also certain will all try to undermine the SNP and also independence too.

Scotland is OUR business not the business of some Tory rejects.

As certain individuals within this ‘new’ organisation ‘Britain Remade’ aka Tory rejects have now seen their former jobs terminated and so they have formed some rogue BritNat Think Tank , no doubt being financially backed by even more (Tory) rogues who seek to get what they want.

On their website Britain Remade have a list of campaigns , one being ‘New Scottish nuclear power’ sign the petition “Lift the ban on new Scottish Nuclear Power”. Is that the poll as promoted by The Scotsman, well I wonder who has signed it as a petition, surely not a “majority of SNP members” going into a website called “Britain remade ?

You know I am pig sick of the whole BritNat shebang.

I am also sick of rogue organisations like this ‘Britain Remade’, who are just yet another BritNat campaign organisation who , in this instance, are nowt more than Conservatives who act not in our best interests in Scotland but solely in the interests of others who care not a sh*t about us or our country, Scotland.

Vote SNP in 2026 and hopefully one day Scotland will hopefully be free of so called Think Tanks who do anything but “Think” , also if we constantly ignore them in Scotland then eventually, God willing, they will “Tank” as organisations.

      1. Britain Remade seems a bit hollow and lacking detail. I clicked on their “Our Ideas” link, next page clicked on, “Read our Plans.” This takes you to a page with the headline, “THE PAGE YOU WERE LOOKING FOR WAS NOT FOUND.”

All appeared flash and whiz over substance, will probably fold when the grant money is used up.

TBF seumascoll, I noted that Bella Caledonia “outed them” first the other day in a tweet on ‘X’ and also in an article in Bella Caledonia, that then prompted me to check them out and I ventured into their website, not a happy experience.

Under the section “About” it gives mini Bio’s of those who work for them and under their “Campaigns’ section I saw the , checks notes, “petition” for  “Lift the ban on new Scottish Nuclear Power” and I immediately thought……..that is………..

Our business and not yours or those who fund you.

Sick of those based in another country thinking they can manipulate and control what goes on in my country, not for my benefit or my fellow countrymen and women’s bloody benefit either.

They are just another addition to add onto the way way way too many other BritNat organisations that do not speak for me , or indeed speak for most of the people I know, but by God we do know who they do speak for.

I do hope more people vote SNP in 2026 because if they do not then we are back to being in that precarious position of BritNat parties then assuming that they can then just keep imposing even more things upon us that we do not want or need and that will surely be to our detriment now and in the future. Only independence will free us from their wanton tyranny.

  1. Aye, well spotted Liz – This the Telegwaff’s Simon Johnson perfectly illustrating the con https://archive.ph/Qmyx0 – The 6th paragraph gives the game away with ” The UK Government’s energy strategy includes plans for new nuclear reactors across England and Wales, with Sir Keir Starmer saying that Britain’s energy security “has been hostage to Putin for too long” ” – Despite the fuel coming from (checks notes) Russia, perhaps somebody can highlight the blatant hypocrisy ?

Yet it’s Simon’s absurd 7th paragraph, “Rolls-Royce, which is developing small modular reactors, has said they could be cheaper to build than conventional plants while still powering about a million homes each” which really takes the piss, but with a nod to the State of a Secretary for Scotland Ian (Greggs) Never-Hurry-A-Murray having totally bombed in promoting this shite on his last visitation.

Pop quiz simpleton Simon – How any wind turbines are required to match the REALISTIC production of a solitary SMR ? 6 is about right, installed before Simon had his breakfarts and fully a decade before any SMR sees a concrete slab let alone energy production.

Yet is this segment which really got my goat, from Death of Rats himself ” John Lamont, Tory MP for Berwickshire, Roxburgh and Selkirk, said: “Supporting the development of nuclear power in Scotland is basic common sense because it would bring energy bills down for workers, businesses and families. Everyone seems to be able to see the huge benefits of nuclear energy, except the SNP. John Swinney’s government is out of touch with the views of mainstream Scotland.”

Ehm, nobody wants nuclear north or south of the border and you know it you total arsehole, many of whom still remember the ‘nuclear, so clean and cheap to produce it’s not worth billing for..’, long before you were a gleam in the milkman’s eye John Lamont.
