Judging by the coverage on BBC Breakfast today, the driving test touts pushing up costs dramatically are operating in the same areas as the grooming gangs so we must assume that BBC Scotland staff are working hard to find at least one of them in Scotland, as they have done for the grooming gangs. No luck so far based on the above but give them time.
They had a go in April 2025 when long delays were first reported, to suggest, as they love to do, that things must be as bad in Scotland. One newspaper let them down, spilling beans.
Being reported across the MSM, on several days in April 2025, driving test delays are hitting ‘record’ highs.
From the Independent on 18 March 2025:
The waiting times for a driving test was almost 21 weeks in England, more than 15 weeks in Scotland.
So, even driving test delays are around 33% longer in England than in Scotland.
Shielded from Tory/Labour, austerity/incompetence, these 18 years, I’m getting a clear picture – the SNP in Government do a far better job.
Examples?
- More and best paid nurses, doctors, police officers and teachers
- Far lower crime, lowest homicide and knife crime in UK, lowest road traffic accident rate, plummeting youth crime
- Fewer Covid deaths, fewer measles cases
- Lowest stillbirth and abortion rates in UK
- Shorter NHS waiting times, no strikes
- Far lower and fast-falling child poverty
- More affordable housing
- Cleaner drinking and swimming water
- More, cheaper, safer ferries, far, far better than for the Isle of Wight, the Channel Isles, British Columbia, Washington State, Greece, New Zealand….
- Drug deaths then? Being fuelled by English County lines gangs.

Talking-up Scotland 'Albatraz' 
It’s amazing what a Scottish party registered & controlled by Scots, in Scotland can do compared to when a foreign party controlled in a foreign cuntry made all the decisions for us.
Just think how much better life will be when we have all of our powers returned to us.

No one’s expecting a utopia when Scotland secures independence, but certainly having an government in the country next door, (chosen by the people of that country ie, England), controlling hugely crucial matters of government in Scotland, is detrimental to the people and country of Scotland as a whole.
Also having political parties operating in your country, at your parliament, that are registered in the country next door and who are ultimately controlled by their bosses in the country next door ie, England, (as is the case with the Labour/Tory/Lib Dems etc, in Scotland) is for sure a huge democratic deficit.
Not many countries would tolerate that situation, unless of course they are colonised. That’s the anomaly in the case of Scotland, and it can’t continue.
No country that controls a neighbouring country is going to make decisions in favour of the wellbeing of that country, it’s just human nature they favour their own, and prioritise their own needs and that of their own interests.
England needs independence, hard to fathom why they shirk at ditching Scotland, it would save them lots and lots of money after all, no? What’s not to like?
Using the ‘foreign’ term in your comment is so old hat and very much the tactics used in 2014, yawn. Also it’s, ‘country’ maybe learn to spell.

Driving tests are NOT devolved – this is nothing to do with the SNP government but the UK DfT (DVSA).
