Alloa & Grangemouth Labour MP Brian Leishman is a Fraud !
This supposed Labour ‘rebel’ MP knows, and indeed has even said as much, that his party betrayed and lied to his constituents in Grangemouth , yet still today he campaigns on their , Labour’s , behalf.
5 Days ago on 7 April Brian Leishman tweeted this:
“Both the Tory and SNP governments knew about the planned refinery closure 5 years ago. Both the Tory and SNP governments did nothing to save the refinery in that time. Both the Tory and SNP governments let Scotland down by choosing to do nothing”.
Really ?
Yet look at what Brian’s party ,Labour, actually did or rather didn’t do to try to “save the Refinery” as the , checks bloody notes, new UK government in 2024.
That would be nothing.
Compared to what they and also Brian promised they would do if Labour were elected as the next UK government, when Labour and also Brian campaigned prior to the 2024 UK GE in that part of his constituency, Grangemouth, as a then Labour candidate.
As in they promised they would “Save the jobs at Grangemouth refinery”, but did not.
Now yesterday Brian Leishman has tweeted again:
“Parliament has been recalled. Hopefully to nationalise British Steel and take it under government control. The same should happen to the Grangemouth oil refinery. The government should control essential industries”.
“should happen to the Grangemouth oil refinery” ?
Has that ship not sailed Brian. Also has Brian Leishman not spoken to Anas Sarwar ?
He, Leishman, should speak to Anas Sarwar and Sarwar would tell Brian Leishman that Grangemouth Refinery was a “Private company”.
A “private company” that Labour then, when elected as the new UK government, financially supported when it came to a football stadium in England and a refinery in Belgium.
A “Private company” says Sarwar as a weak excuse as to why Labour apparently could not save Grangemouth Refinery when his Labour HQ became , checks bloody notes, the new UK government,.
Yet Brian knows that Sarwar has said this and yet he, Leishman, ignores this was said by Anas Sarwar as a weak and unacceptable excuse for both his and his party’s lies and betrayal to Grangemouth workers and constituency.
Instead Brian decides to tweet the above tweet on the 7 April, a tweet that lays all of the blame for Grangemouth refinery lost jobs on both the Tories and the SNP, as we all know how Labour just love to “blame others” while then also accusing “others” , like the Tories and the SNP , of always blaming everyone but themselves.
Labour’s infamous ‘Do as I say not as I do’ constant position.
Brian, still lying for Labour then and still betraying his Grangemouth constituents.
Brian also included a video in his tweet yesterday where he said:
“I’m at Edinburgh Airport waiting to fly down as parliament has been recalled this weekend. There’s a lot of speculation as to why, if it’s going to be a nationalisation announcement of Scunthorpe British Steel. Hopefully that is because it should be. Not only should British Steel be under government ownership , so should Grangemouth Oil refinery. If there’s an opportunity to speak this weekend in Parliament on that topic I’ll be taking it up”.
The video then ended with a big red Labour logo stating “Brian Leishman Labour”.
Brian Leishman knows that both he and his party Labour lied to and betrayed his constituents in Grangemouth, but still Brian Leishman is Labour through and through. Some ‘rebel’ he is.
I mean what could he , Leishman , do but appear to ‘rebel’ against his party, or rather play at being a ‘rebel’ when his party , Labour , did “nothing” to try and “save the Refinery” after they, Labour HQ, won the UK GE in 2024.
So in respect to “nationalisation” Brian Leishman says in his video that as well as Scunthorpe British Steel being nationalised then he says “so should Grangemouth Oil refinery” and also he says “If there’s an opportunity to speak this weekend” (in Parliament with this recall).
So if Grangemouth is not nationalised and if Brian does not get “an opportunity to speak this weekend” ?????
Then what ?
Well then Brian Leishman can add his solidarity with his party, Labour HQ , on behalf of the workers at Scunthorpe , as we all know where this Labour UK government’s priority lies and it is not with workers in Brian’s constituency in Scotland that’s for sure.
Or indeed , it appears, that Labour HQ’s priority , as the new UK government, is also not with anyone else , worker or otherwise, within Scotland as well !
I mean let’s be honest if Brian Leishman’s real priority and real focus was with Grangemouth then why and how is he still a Labour MP ? (others MP’s in other parties have defected from their previous parties for far far less than Labour has done- or rather not done- to and for part of Brian’s new constituency, Grangemouth)
Vote SNP in 2026 as it seems Brian Leishman, the so called Labour ‘Rebel’ MP , is still Labour in both his heart and his head and so when Labour HQ say to Brian Leishman “run” (back to the English parliament for the workers in an English constituency) Brian asks “How fast” or rather he just ‘runs for Labour HQ’ , in more ways than one.

Wee Brian has obviously been given the green light to ”oppose” the Westminster Labour line on Grangemouth so that Labour in Scotland (Sarwar apart ) can pretend to care what happens to Scottish jobs .
The Scottish Secretary , Union Jack clad Ian Murray, is of course silent on the ”nationalisation” of a key Scottish industry but will toe the line on Nationalising a key English industry .

I see he is quoted by BBC Scotchland as saying,
‘Brian Leishman, Labour MP for Alloa and Grangemouth, has also called for nationalisation of the Scottish refinery. He told BBC Radio’s Good Morning Scotland there were “striking similarities between Scunthorpe and Grangemouth”.He said: “The government should intervene at Grangemouth to extend refinrery operations until the new energy industies of the future that we are going to need are ready.”That is the only way that we can really, truly, achieve a just transition for workers and communities.”The PM recognises the strategic importance of Scunthorpe steel, and he really should do the same for Grangemouth oil.”‘
Well, Brains. He hasn’t .
Your move.

Listen it’s not just Scotland betrayed but Wales has been betrayed by Labour too.
This was reported today:
“Plaid Cymru Westminster leader Liz Saville Roberts MP has criticised the UK Government for double standards in the treatment of steelworkers in Port Talbot, during Saturday’s House of Commons debate on the future of the Scunthorpe steelworks.
In September 2024, TATA Steel closed the blast furnaces at Port Talbot, cutting 2,800 jobs in the process.
Ms Saville Roberts highlighted “Labour’s inaction” in contrast with the urgency to intervene to protect jobs in the case of Scunthorpe, which she described as a “bitter, bitter disappointment for Port Talbot”, where steelmaking has been in place for over a century”.
Of course we all know why .
It’s because in UK GE’s only one nation within the UK is allocated the most seats in the UK parliament at WM , and that is England, therefore England is the King maker at WM.
That’s the ‘Double standards’ at play here with Scunthorpe British Steel, Grangemouth and Port Talbot and with Labour as the current new UK government.
That’s why the UK State does not work as an entity (for Scotland, Wales & NI) or rather it’s very much a non entity (for Scotland , Wales & NI).
Keir Starmer and Labour think, or rather hope, that what they have done today for Scunthorpe British Steel will then cancel out all of the sh*te that they did before to everyone else (and that they are still to do even more Sh*te in the future, of that I am sure).
However after May’s local elections in England it will be back to (Bad) ‘Business as Usual’ for Labour as the new UK government.
Vote SNP in 2026 , if we do not, then this will allow Scotland and it’s citizens to continue to be treated as second class citizens in this UK State by their UK politicians (and their client media), irrespective of which UK political party is UK government.
As all of them as political parties associate the UK State and Britain as being synonymous with England.
(Ed Davey , the real and only current Leader of Lib Dem HQ, has said that he wants his party, the Lib Dems, to be the party for Middle England, of course he does, but he does not say that when he comes ‘up North’ , as in up to Scotland , on one of his very rare flying visits here, does he ?).

Also noted that MSM Monitor had a video of Labour MP Alan Gemmel , who was (unfortunately) elected last year as the MP (another Stooge for Labour HQ) for Central Ayrshire, where he , reading from his phone, stood up in the HOC yesterday to state:
“The SNP and the Tories didn’t have an industrial strategy for Scotland, and had no plans for Grangemouth. This Labour government is on the side of working people, stepping up to protect British jobs and local communities.”
Rubbish (in respect to the SNP that is).
Reality is that………
This Labour government has no industrial strategy for Scotland and in their 2024 campaign they, Labour, pretended that they had plans for Grangemouth, where their so called ‘Scottish’ leader Anas Sarwar promised that if the UK (and Scotland) elected a Labour UK government then they. Labour, would invest “hundreds of millions of pounds into Grangemouth” and so Labour would then “save the jobs at Grangemouth Refinery”.
That did not happen and when challenged Sarwar had the audacity to then state that Grangemouth Refinery was a “Private company”. Clearly Alan Gemmell is also , like Sarwar, lying and also like other Labour politicians, placing the blame on everybody else but Labour.
This Labour government is not “on the side of working people” in Scotland, Wales or NI as they , so far, have only been “stepping up to protect” English jobs for English communities which they present and assume as being synonymous with British jobs and British communities.
In August 2024 Labour shelved £1.3bn of funding that was promised by the previous Tory government for Tech and Artificial Intelligence (AI) projects that included the £800m for the creation of an exascale supercomputer at Edinburgh University in Scotland ( Edinburgh University had already spent £31m in building housing for it).
Then in January 2025 the Labour Chancellor unveiled plans to deliver the Oxford-Cambridge, in England, Growth Corridor and Rachel Reeves said the area has “the potential to be Europe’s Silicon Valley” so the Labour government backed the University of Cambridge’s plans to build a large scale innovation hub in the city centre. ( in England).
In October 2024 Labour pledged £22 Billion for projects to capture and store carbon emissions from energy, industry and hydrogen production in England.
In March 2025- Labour announced that Great British Energy’s first project will put rooftop solar panels on 200 schools and 200 hospitals – cutting energy bills, this was all for Schools and Hospitals in England and not in the country, that is Scotland, where the so called HQ of GB Energy is based. (however the so called Chairman of GB Energy is not based at GB Energy HQ in Scotland as he is based in Manchester, England).
Ed Milliband , Labour Energy Secretary, tweeted in March 2025:
“Great British Energy is coming to you. Our publicly-owned energy company is rolling out solar panels for schools and NHS sites across England. Cutting bills and saving money for frontline services”. (He also linked a video to his tweet where he confirmed that this was GB Energy’s “First project”).
Labour knew that Grangemouth would be raised yesterday in the recall to parliament to debate the plan to ‘save jobs at Scunthorpe British Steel in England‘ so as a way to deflect from the backlash from Scotland then the message from them seems to be that “the Tories and the SNP did nothing for Grangemouth or Scotland’ or according to yet another Labour stooge elected last year in Scotland, Alan Gemmell, the SNP have done nothing for Industrial strategy in Scotland”.
In 2024 the FM in Scotland confirmed that “Scotland has no macroeconomic powers, we have no control over migration, or employment policy or competition policy, or a host of other economic levers and we only have very limited borrowing powers for capital investment”.
So that said , what then does Labour MP Alan Gemmell think the SNP, as Scottish government, could do by way of “industrial strategy” when Labour as the new UK government seem to be neglecting Scotland’s industries (and Wales too) in favour of government projects for England’s industrial future as they, Labour as the UK government , now have all of the powers and control and too the majority of the money, that the SNP as the Scottish government do not have ?
Labour’s answer to everything in Scotland is that the Scottish government should “Mitigate” as and when the UK government decide to do something that then impacts Scotland’s budget, so then in our government here in Scotland having to constantly “mitigate” , this then results in real financial challenges for the Scottish government, so really a constant ‘mitigation’ exercise is then not a (progressive) solution is it ?
Yet really what have Labour, as the new UK government, done for Scotland so far?
As when they were elected last year as the new UK government they were then in a position to act and so save Grangemouth Refinery , they chose not to save it. (they also chose not to save Port Talbot in Wales as well).
Who is seeing a pattern here with this Labour UK government?
Even the Labour MP for Grangemouth, Brian Leishman, is now complying with Labour’s recent and latest official (deflection) ‘political memo’ as he is now blaming the Tories and the SNP for Grangemouth. (as he also did prior to the 2024 UK GE when he campaigned as a Labour candidate together with Anas Sarwar as the so called Scottish Labour leader ).
He, Leishman, has changed his bloody tune has he not. As not that long ago it was , according to him, Labour who had let down, betrayed and lied to his constituency, now Leishman is toeing the party line, what with the English local elections coming up in May this year and also the Scottish elections coming up next year.
#WheeshtForLabour.
Vote SNP in 2026 or we will need to keep hearing and reading about the constant stream of lies and selective memory (false memory) from Labour MP’s and their client media for way too long for it ever to be considered as being bearable for us.
Sick inducing springs to mind where some voters in Scotland have now sent a parcel of Labour rogues , 37 of them, down to the English parliament not to represent or support ‘Scottish jobs for Scottish communities’ (or Welsh ones too it seems) but instead , it seems, for them all to only, so far, represent and support ‘English jobs for English communities’. It’s not British Steel it’s English Steel. (both same thing really in Labour’s eyes and minds).

Meant to also add that Labour, as the new UK government , will continue with the now way over budget and very much extreme delayed HS2 (Tory) project for England.
Also Labour government ……….pledges made for………..
Expansion of Airports in England.
Improving rail connectivity across the north of England.
Labour also promised new roads , reservoirs and other significant infrastructure in England.
A promise to fix an additional one million potholes across England in each year of the next parliament.
To build Laboratories, digital infrastructure, and gigafactories in England (largest gigafactory to be in Somerset, then also a project in Coventry with a second facility in Sunderland- all in England).
Promised 1.5 million new homes in England over the next parliament.
Also a promise to invest an extra £6.6 billion over the next parliament to upgrade five million homes in England.
Labour have also committed £1bn to improve bus services in England.
Lisa Nandy , Labour MP and Culture Secretary, has said Labour would be willing to back a (football) stadium development in Newcastle in the same way it is supporting Manchester United, both in England.
(The Old Trafford scheme is expected to use public money to move three rail freight terminals blocking the redevelopment).
It was also reported that Sir Keir Starmer had “allocated £1 Billion in public funds to support the Manchester United club” where CEO and Chairman of Ineos who owned Grangemouth , that is Sir Jim Ratcliffe, was reported as having bought a 27.7% stake in Manchester United in February 2024.
Sir Jim Ratcliffe also supported and backed Labour to win the 2024 UK GE.
(Labour gave a £600 million guarantee (backing) to Billionaire Sir Jim Ratcliffe to build the biggest petrochemical plant in Europe in Belgium. Grangemouth set to close in second quarter of this year , 2025)
Plus Ratcliffe changed his tax residence from Hampshire in England to Monaco in September 2020 to avoid paying UK tax, that’s the same Sir Jim Ratcliffe who also supported Brexit in 2016, but did not support the now Brexit UK enough to want to pay more tax into this new Brexit UK).
£28m will be invested in Cornish Metals in England , which provides the raw material for solar panels, wind turbines and electric vehicles.
So Labour UK government investing in what is best for England and also it seems what is also best for some of the “Few” who backed them in the 2024 UK GE.
Vote SNP in 2026 to finally show Labour that Scotland no longer believes nor needs their far too many lies and far too many empty slogans.
With Labour there has been ‘NO CHANGE’ for either Scotland or indeed for some others within their UK as well, and there will also be ‘NO NEW DIRECTION’ for Scotland either with WM’s man in Holyrood, Anas Sarwar, who will never stand up to his WM UK leader as he, Sarwar, is leader in name only in Scotland and with Labour party , as he , Sarwar, takes his instructions from Labour HQ and so he does what he is telt. (as did previous Labour ‘leaders’ in Scotland too, before Sarwar got the ‘job’ ).
(If you , as a Scottish citizen, are not bloody raging by now, then get someone to check that you still have a pulse).
