With Baillie and Gulhane being given the red carpet by the BBC and STV to freely slander the SNP Scottish Government on GP numbers, they omit comparison with the British Labour government and British Tory governments track record on failing primary care in England.

The number of GPs per 100,000 of the population in Scotland stands at 82. In England, it is 64; in Wales, it is 67; and in Northern Ireland, it is 75. There are more GPs available in Scotland as a consequence of the investment that the Government has made, with 307 GPs being added since 2007.

Pressures in general practice data analysis

Surely honest journalism, especially from a public service broadcaster and one that most people are forced to pay for, should at the very least offer comparison and context to ensure that the reader or viewer has been offered the full facts.

It is obvious that the BBC and STV are now Der Angriff and have now begun their   anti Scotland diatribes a year ahead of the Holyrood elections.

  1. Surely if the UK was a true equal society our news would be properly reported across all regions. Instead of the incessant propaganda we have today, the news could be properly national when statistics are being broadcast, listing all four nations’ achievements or failures at the same time.

  2. BBC Scotland is a lost cause as far as being a reliable , unbiased reporter of News .

When Independence comes it will be necessary to create a National Broadcaster to replace the current UK Propaganda Unit which currently inhabits Pacific Quay . None of those employed at the moment need apply for positions .

  3. It’s a case of all hands on deck when the BBC rallies around to support the Labour Party in Scotland in Election mode.
